Hey everybody, My 1st post and have a few questions. I have a 95 XE big cab 4x4 4 cyl 5 speed I bought new in august of 95. It's been the best vehicle I have ever owned but is starting to develop some problems I need to address. The odometer has stopped working as well as the Tach. The Tach hasn't worked in several years. Years ago the speedometer stopped working and I had it fixed at a speedometer shop and has worked since. I called the same shop and they now want $300.00 to fix the odometer and tach! The fuel gauge hasn't worked correctly since new, it registers 3/4 when full. I did a search but can't find a thread on how to remove the instrument cluster. I'm thinking I will have to pry it out from the front as I can't see any mounting screws anywhere. I wanted to ask here first before I do something that might do more harm than good! Is it possible to repair the odometer and tach or do you guys think I will have to purchase new ones? It has a couple more minor issues that I'll post at a later date in a different thread. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. gman

Time for a trip to the junk yard to pull a cluster. Fixing it at $300 when you can get them from the JY for under $100 is a no-brainer.

I just did this today. Not for any particular reason, buddy just spotted a higher trim cluster so we decided to swap it. Of course, I ended up grabbing a V6 cluster, so the tach isn't working properly, but that's a different problem [any advice on which is welcome] My truck is a 94 king cab 2wd k24, so maybe slight differences, but doubt it.

Should be two screws near the top of the instrumental cluster, those are obvious. Then pop the front plastic off the dash, One big piece all around the steering wheel, it's on with maybe 4 metal clips. I was ale to get it off no problem by pulling on it down and away for the left side, then I popped a flathead into the right side and it came off pretty easy. That should expose a couple more screws, just take those out. Once those are off, there's a plastic fascia that needs to come off. After that, work the cluster out slowly, and unclip the wiring harnesses as you can get at them.

Probably took me 20 minutes to get it out and back in.

Hope that helps
