I have always noticed a slight gurgling in the heater core so I decided to burp the cooling system today. I parked car on neighbors driveway that is a 45 degree incline and set car at idle. I then removed the purge valve and radiator cap. I revved engine to 2000 rpm for a bit while sitting in the car I noticed the heater was not warm. Oh well... I got out screwed purge valve back in and topped off the radiator with a little bit of water.

I now noticed heater was not blowing hot air and observed fans were running non stop! so I drove around block and let her idle until I noticed the engine temperature gauge was at HOT  I pulled car immediately into the garage, opened hood and she was boiling! My coupe has sit all winter in the garage only being moved in and out and maybe a drive around the block....do you think I got a stuck thermostat?? or I induced more air in the cooling system??? :werd: how hard is to change a thermostate in this 3.5?? I work at a body shop so Im capable of doing it if its not BURIED under engine parts.

I am so pissed right now   please help!!!!! :wtf2:

I spoke with Infiniti and the tech informed me not to burp system w/o the special funnel that attaches to the radiator neck. They informed me to get the funnel and fill with fluid and let the car burp itself. waht do you top techs think???? :gotme

should be easy to change thermostat pn 21200-31U1B, get a copy of ecm and go to CO23 page:
REMOVAL
1. Remove undercover using power tools.
2. Drain engine coolant from the radiator. Refer to CO-8, "Changing Engine Coolant" .
3. Remove air duct. Refer to EM-15, "Removal and Installation" .
4. Remove water drain plug on water pump side of the engine.
5. Remove radiator lower hose from thermostat and thermostat housing.
6. Remove oil cooler water hose from thermostat and thermostat housing.
7. Remove thermostat and thermostat housing.
Do not disassemble thermostat and thermostat housing.
Replace them as a unit, if necessary.

I burped mine after a drain/fill following the FSM...did fine. I used a floor jack to raise the front end....I assume you parked with front higher than reaar.
Assume your bottom hose is not getting hot.....suggesting therm is stuck

I looked on youtube and saw a video "infiniti g35 thermostat" and it did not look hard to change the thermostat! Infiniti told me the t was on the bottom but the g in the video it was on the top of the engine? It was the same year as my g. Anyone know where the t is located on a 03 coupe? i can get a new t for 20.00 and i bought the special funnel.

I Saw a digram... Thermostat is on the top upper right side of 3.5 engine...probably just replacing t and flushing system. looking at the engine the t is on right side. Drivrers side

i took my g35 to a reputable service mechanic 18 miles across town. as i got the the shop i noticed my car heater was working normally..i then informed the mechanics that i suspected the car burped itself on the way over. the shop called me and said the cooling systen was operating just fine. i said its already there so gofor a flush and pump the air out with your machine and it should be good to go.

is this wierd or what. :werd:

Yeah, odd.

Hopefully that's the end of it.
