2009 Nissan Murano SL FWD

I was driving home and after a stop light stepped on the gas pedal and the car functioned fine. about half a mile down, while pressing on the gas pedal, the car fails to move. When i put it in park, the engine revs, but as soon as i try in Drive or Reverse, the car inches forward, but the gas pedal fails to drive the car forward. at this point the VCS and ABS lights are on, with no CEL.

I let the car sit for a couple days and tried to start the car. The car tries to start but fails, almost like a dead battery, with enough voltage to power cabin lights, radio and alarm.

I've read some posts on a couple of forums that stated it could be a bad batter or alternator.

Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas?

Did you try to jump start the vehicle?

not yet, i bought a new battery from costco today and will give it a shot. good thing the return policy is good.
