yep, that will allow you to retard timing off boost using your stock ignition

first off, sry to jack this thread but it relates to it and I am desperate for some help.

I have been searching for an answer to this question for awhile and i think you might be able to help. I have the msd SCI ign. but i am switching to 6btm soon. I have had no luck as to where I can find the right diagram to install msd ignitions in an obd2 240. The diagram msd gave me shows the 2 wires on the coil harness being the ones used but its not the right ones. I have seen pics in SCC with a 240 using msd so i think it can be done and was hoping you could give me some advice. Thanks.

someone in another post said for more than around 7 psi you might want to upgrade the stock set up because you might blow out the spark or something. I don't have first hand experience.

If you get the generic MSD BTM, it doesn't increase the spark, but if you get the MSD6 BTM which is $350 you should be all set as far as spark goes.

Now as far as how much boost you can run. The BTM will pull out enough timing for your motor to fall on its face on setting 3. So Timing isn't the issue, fuel would be the shortfall.

If you start sputtering at higher RPMs at high boost levels, you know its time to upgrade your ignition. But I'd say your good till atleast 15 psi with a set of Iridium plugs and the BTM.
