MSD 6BTM do i need it?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I will be running 8psi with the FMU SAFC, 370cc and 255 fuel pump, I dont know if i need this (MSD 6BTM)at 8psi range, I wouldn't go any higher until I have a proper tuning??? also i want to know where I can get some 5 psi spring for my Tial exertnal wastegate ?

at 8 psi I think you're pretty much right at the edge between being able to retard base timing and needing a BTM. honestly I say bite the bullet and spend the extra $150 for it. That way you can be more sure that your setup is safe, and plus you wont lose power on the lower end like turning back the base timing will do.

yeah I think he thought you mean the 100 dollar one that retards your stock ignition, which might be a better choice. But you are running more than 7 psi, which is supposed to be the point at which it is advised to upgrade the ignition.

yeah sorry, the BTM is the boost retard module, and you can get that seperate without using the MSD 6 also. I dont really think you're going to need a whole new ignition setup at that low of a PSI... I say just get the cheaper BTM and if you have spark problems THEN get the MSD6.

they also have some manual timing controllers for like $50

I think its msd 5462...the 6462 is the full aftermarket ignition with btm... be nice to have it for high boost applications but I guess its not necessary.

might as well get the crane retard...i think slos13 is the one using it..as its well cheaper
