So your buying a spacer now to get an MREV2 later? Why not just jump directly to MREV2 now?

On a side note - I want to know if the MREV2 is beneficial/installable on the 07 G35x. Thanks.

well i'm just asking if the MREV2 is really +15hp/+18tq on average. And also whether if its +15 abover the 298hp and +18 abover the 260tq of my REV-up engine

I have the 5/16 spacer and am working on getting the M-Rev next. With the spacer and my intake goodies...I most definitley noticed a power gain. This was also before I got my exhaust. The following info. is taken from Everything G35...hope it helps.

Oh and BTW...I think motordyne was full of #$@% when they told you just the spacer without the M-Rev does nothing! they were probably looking to make more $$$.

Stick with Joe at Everything G35!!

The MREV2 is a new product from Motordyne Engineering. It's a new design that works on both the REV-Up and Standard VQ35 engines.

The average power gains on a 260 or 280hp motor (non-rev-up) are better than the 5/16" spacer. This modification increases power across a very wide rpm range. The MREV2 should be used without a spacer on the standard engine, unless fuel/ECU modifications have been performed as it may cause the engine to run lean.

The power gains on a 298hp REV-Up motor are similar to the earlier MREV kits, when used with a 5/16" spacer kit. The 5/16" Spacer is recommended for the REV-Up engines as it will help safely increase power, when used with the MREV2 collector. This setup averages 15+hp and 18+ft.lbs in the upper midrange (approx 4500-5000rpms). Many independent tests have shown even higher gains as well!

And here is info. below on just the spacer:

This stealth modification adds 11HP-13HP and reduces the effect of power robbing heat soak. The engine cover easily fits and never needs to be cut. With the engine cover in place the engine bay looks completely stock.

thanks gwhizz i have a nismo CAI right now. if i do end up getting the MREV2 with the spacers how much HP/TQ do u think i'd be pushing? 300/300ish maybe? lol prolly not but that would be nice. Shoot Everythingg35.com just raised their prices on the plenum spacers >< its 270 now for the isothermal ones. ALso should i get Headers later on becuase exhausts all cost a crap load of money >< thanks

Okay, now I'm confused. So should we get both the mrev2 and the spacer, would that make more of a difference and can we actually do that. I just want to know because the mrev2 was on my list of mods to do. Now I'm wondering should and can I do both the mrev2, and the spacer? I obviously have the non rev-up engine,so does that mean I should get the 5/16th space with the mrev?

I'm really close to getting either the spacers or the mrev2/spacers soon, but after reading some posts from other forums also i noticed that people claim that the MREV2 is almost useless. A guy said he installed the MREV2 first and felt nothing, heard nothing, and was almost a waste of money. But after he installed the spacers he felt it almost instantly. He also said that the MREV2 is also a waste of moeny because it is just basically a ground'd down lower plenum that cost a whole shhh load of money.

Now i have reasearched left and right about these two products and from my research it says that the spacers give you HP but no TQ gains but the MREV2 give you approx 18 TQ.

Was the person on the other forum just not feeling the gains of the midrange TQ or is it really taht the MREV2 kit bascially USELESS W/O the spacers. Is 700 worth it for approx 15 HP // 18 TQ. compared to 11-13 HP for $275(just Spacers)? Darn also Everythingg35.com jacked up their prices on all motordyne products ie. 275 instead of 250 for spacers now and 410 instead of 400 MREV2. I also emailed them and they said they couldnt give me a discount eventhough i'm a member of Nicoclub.com !!! wuts up with that lol.

Yeah no offense, but if these guys are getting free advertising on our space,we need to talk to them and have them give us a discount. Shyte on the mazda boards all the companies gave us atleast...atleast a 10% discount, and that was usually the low end. I think maybe the guy had a rev up engine to answer your prior question about the mrev, and didn't see that you had to install a space to help the midrange area. Unless that person had a non rev up engine, let me know KDF, I'd be interested in hearing what the story is. I'm getting paid soon, and i'd be willing to looking into getting one of those, but if people aren't sure,or if anyone can find a dyno sheet with it,that'd be great. Otherwise I'm just getting the jwt/ztube for now.

Actually ...I phoned Joe yesterday regarding discounts...turns out the price you see online is the discount?? He says it's 25% I don't agree.

But, as far as I know...they don't advertise for free here

yep crashtest they dont give any discount above the universal discount to us. When i phoned them they said the marked down price was the nico discount >< uggh lol yah so i just bought the spacers . BTW they bumped the the cost on the spacer 25 dollars.. i think maybe motordyne bumped it up themselves and everythingg35.com had to follow. but i decided to hold on the mrev because at this moment i dont think i'll be getting an exhaust anytime soon so i dont see why i would finish up my intake-> exhaust mod's so i'm planning on saving for some ex/interior cosmetics. IE nissan badge/shiftknob/nismo engine look/ and possibily a carbon fiber front lip and nismo rear diffusers.

I believe it should work, and if it's the rev up engine like I think, then it's the mrev2 and the spacer.

Hopefully you didn't have it put together too much before you realized your mistake!! Piece of cake eh! Did you use a torque wrench??

BTW...don't want to get you down but if you get the MREV...you have to take everything apart again

Also..the MREV is $410 @EG35 not $446??

If anything goes wrong during installation that causes a problem in the engine then

no g_whizz i have the nismo CAI i ordered that about a month or two ago after much deliberation, i wanted to go CAI and the fact that i was paying almost 100 dollar for an oem Z part was not too thrilling for me >< lol and also i trusted nismo. My next project might be headers or exhaust or carbon fiber front lip.

Hey G_whizz and everyone else that is curious

I JUST INSTALLED MY MREV2 TODAY. the list below are the changes i feel.

more pull at 4.5 just like the dyno says.

louder roar at high rpms , hate to say it but sounds more lika american car now at high revs (i'ma JDM fan)

With my Spacers i felt a lil bit of change a lil more kick wen i reached around 6k or high 5's not tooooo noticable but i definately felt it.

BUT with the MREV2 AND! spacers i felt like i just went for my first test drive in this car again ( i originally had a 97 CE Toyota Corolla ) >< lol.

ALso a change i noticed is the car drives really normally at low revs ie under 4 and that is what i ussually drive at. But wen u wanna hit the gas and do stupid **** and go crazy it feels lika low boost app or even a V-tec because after 5k rpm the car kicks hardddddd.

just thought u guys wanted to know how my project went

I'm confused....I thought the MREV2 was for pre 05 coupes, because we have the REVUP engine??

The MREV2 increased performance in a REVUP engine?

Just to be clear, this is what we're talking about:
