My car just turned over 5000 miles this tank. Prior MPGs were 25.8 to 26.1 on the DIC but figured 24.6 manually. Tonight at Wawa, was at 410 miles on the tank and the DIC showed 27.5, manual calculation 26.5! Oh yeah, $3.00 Marlboro lights, 2.79 per gallon. Same driving vigor.I’m f’n happy with dat!2.5 cvt

Here gas is 3.54 per gallon and cigs run $6 a pack. Wow, $10 per pack in Canada? Last I heard it was $8 per pack. Luckily the CAN dollar is going up.

I just installed my wonderful new Injen Intake, which as your know clears the MPG history when you disconnect the battery. I took that bad boy out and ran her hard all night and still managed to average 15 mpg!!! I think that's pretty good for foot-to-the-floor driving, seeing as how the first 5000 miles on the car I averaged about 20mpg. Yes, the V6 loves to burn gas.

Ok this has been driving me NUTS. I do mostly highway driving, and it seems no matter what I do (ok, maybe I have a little of a lead foot) the best mpg I can get is around 25 in the 2.5. I do most of my driving around 65-80. I know it's all about driving style but when I really try to be disciplined and put the cruise on 65-70 I'm still not getting over 25.5/tank calculated manually. Should I really be seeing that much of a difference in mileage?

I also use 87 octane. Octane can't make that much of a difference in MPG does it?

Just hit 32.5 mpg (my calculation, dash said 33.6 mpg) on a tank driving the past two days (Hagerstown MD to Aberdeen & back, than up I-81>I-84 to the NY Thruway/Poughkeepsie). It appears the 2.5L/CVT package like warmer temps. My mileage went up considerably after hitting 6k, now at 8.5K.

I'm getting great mileage too. Just did the first oil change last week, so I'm fully expecting 37mpg at least (during the summer.)

The last tank was 33.8mpg, which included a mix of city highway.

The octane does matter, mine clearly states to use premium gas!! If this is to much $$, the best thing is to buy an octane booster for a buck or so.... this car has uranium spark plugs and for the best mpg, needs high octane.WORKS, PROMISE

Ok, I'll have to try it out, didn't think it would make THAT much of a difference. Thanks for the tip.

I'm finding on my 2.5 that cold temps make a big difference in MPG results. I went from a 32.5 (pure highway) last week with 50 degree temps to 26 mpg (little mix of city) last week when temps dropped again. 12 degrees today in MD/PA and NJ so doubt it will go up much.

My buddy has a Hybrid Camry, he hit 40 mpg last week on a very urban travel route (best for the Hybrid powerplant) but he sees results dip as well with temps. Come on Spring!

Really? I was always under the impression that colder temps would lead to slightly BETTER gas mileage as the cold causes gasoline/oxygen to condense and therefore you get technically more gas/unit.

Did a little search, seems that this article is saying there's about a 10% decrease in MPG in cold weather... http://www.startribune.com/cars/11354696.html Looks like you get more power in cold weather, but worse mpg due to several conditions.

So maybe the lower octane combined with the colder temps is causing me to get significantly worse gas mileage in comparison to other 2.5's...

If you have the 2.5 im sure you dont need premium gas. It probably will not help either. Just do what the manual says, and if you're getting waht you're getting.. Well.. Thats just how you drive.

BTW i dont beleive teh CAI gives you NOTICBLE gas mileage results..I think mine went down but thats because ive learned to stop gunning it from light to light. ( Its soo fun)
