A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

If it's an SE-R you have an SR20DE (2.0l dual cam fuel injected). Otherwise you have a GA16DE.

The most common swaps are one of any number of other Nissan engines, including, but not limited to:SR20DET (3 versions)SR20VESR16VESR20VET

It's also fairly common to turbocharge the SR20DE already in the car. I have done a write-up on it. There's a link in my signature and in the Table of Contents thread up top.

Check out the Table of Contents for more info on engines. Run a few searches to find info on how easy/difficult they are.

On the whole, it's a good engine. It's easy to work on, receptive to mods, easy to take care of, and usually lasts a long time. The GA16 is also easy to maintain, but don't expect much performance.

In order to tell if it's an SE-R,

-it has inner tail lights-fog lights, maybe-DOHC motor, aka SR20DE

I think there's more, but that's all I know off the top of my head. If it's an SR20, you already have a good motor to work with. You can turbocharge itor put some bolt-on pieces on it for all motor like intake, header, exhaust, pulleys, etc.

No cause the GA16DE is also DOHC. The valve cover for the GA is smaller height wise compared to the SR.

The SR also says SR20 on the block. It's engraved on the front of the block near the driver's side edge a bit below the valve cover.
