motor in, not sparking

Got the motor in and trying to get it started. motor cranks, fuel pump comes on for first 3 seconds. I checked my wiring and coilpack and ignition both get 12V by the battery. Pulled 2 of the 4 plugs out and held against a ground while trying to crank and saw no spark at all. Im not sure how to check the coilpacks are getting the pulses, so how can i further test/diagnose the coilpacks/ignitor/ecu etc to isolate my problem??
