i have already removed muffler and i now have the money to replace the resonator. i think instead i will have a custom cat-back made. my question is what do you think my versa would sound like with this muffler..

http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku

i know a lot of you are opposed to custom exhaust so please dont tell me how stupid you think i am, i just want your opinion on the sound.

thanks

Magnaflows are better tuned for 4-cylinder cars than some other brands of muffler. Do NOT get a Flowmaster, you'll regret every minute of it if you pair it with a 4-cylinder.

I personally haven't experienced a Magnaflow, but I did have a Holley Raptor muffler on a 1.8L Kia I had (and used a glasspack as a resonator) and it had a wicked sound to it.

I used to have a 93 240SX with a magnaflow muffler and it gave the car a unique sound. Every other 240 I heard never sounded like mine. So I think you should bro, might give that a unique sound to

And once again Lain doles out some more less than stellar advice.

No muffler = illegal. Check your local regs...

Oh, and this is one that cops really love to enforce, because it's an easy "kill" for them.

Yeah bro if you flat out take your muffler off it will become a cop magnet. And it make take power but not enough to even notice a difference at all.

my bad i typed that wrong...well the last part...I'm leaving my muffler on but I'm going to use a qtp pipe so I can choose if i want the air flow to go though the muffler or though a second pipe right before it. The only way a cop would know is if they look below your car, and if you leave your stock muffler on they have no reason to look below.

the magnaflow will probably make your car sound a little ricey becuase there isnt as much to resonate off of. You might have better luck with the larger of the 2

Not exactly, it just gives it a lil more sounds, thats why i went with magnaflow on my 240 and it didnt sound like all the ricers/hondas out there.

i went with the n1 style cheap off ebay and paired it with 2.25 stright pipe from the cat. it is super loud with out scilencer but just right with it on. for track days taking of the muffler would be a good ideal other than that i leave it on. Magnaflow sounded good on my honda. but I roll with nissan now, oh yeah my 240sx rocked the same set up not bad and cheap

Im not saying they dont sound good on hondas im just saying they all sound alike no matter what exhaust you got, unless you got some beafed up engine, then and only then does it really sound different

Are you going to use a resonator, too? Definately let us know how it comes out after the install and how it sounds, because I was interested in the exact same muffler.

Does your mobile take video? I know it's a stretch but considering that our cars are kind of uncharted it would be a great benefit to hear what it would sound like once it was installed.

The audio quality of a mobile phone's recording is going to be absolute garbage.

Do you know anyone with a laptop computer? If so, you can go to an electronics store and for $10 or $20, buy a halfway decent stereo microphone that will have MUCH better sound quality, and just use the laptop and microphone to record an audio clip.

Be sure to keep your packaging just in case... not all "universal" mufflers will fit in a V because of the tight space behind the bumper where it goes.

that why i didnt get the one that is 9"x4", this one is 8"x5". i crawled under it and i could even make it hit. so if my exhaust guy cant make it work f*** him, there is other people out there.

well, just got my V back from the exhaust shop had 2 1/4 inch cat-back made. it has a good sound, nice and quiet (quieter then before when i was running no muffler and only the resonator). i can feel a little my power but nothing to brag about. in the end it cost $225 total ($105 for muffler delivered, and $120 for all the work). i am very happy with it.

we just need to figure out how you can get some sound recorded and get it up on here. Does your digital camera have a video mode?

Does the exhaust have a really deep sound, or is it higher pitched?
