I took my car in today to get some minor work done on the top. They tweaked it ,lubed it glued some ripped weather stripping and gave me an education when they showed me what they had done and how some things worked. There are times when it's totally worthwhile to get your hands dirty and learn how to fix something. And there are times when a professional can do so much in a couple of hours and cure a ton of little problems.Today was one of the second kind of days.

Anyone have any car stories of money well spent or wished they had spent?

I wish I would have spent more time paying attention when all these old timer car guys would explain things to me at shows... would have made my life easier in some regards.

I originally went to this shop with my wifes sprint vert. They are a very reputable upholstery shop that specializes in verts. My problem with the 240 was mostly the back windows not fitting correctly ,one was actually out of the track and had torn the weather stripping. It turned out the top wasn't out of allignment side to side which is spring loaded, but front to back. There is a stopper on each side that is threaded. The top is now a little harder to close at the windshield but the quarter windows don't bind at the rear. The guy I bought the car off used to keep the quarter windows up while bringing the top up.Which led to bad window switches and the torn weather strip.

So it cost me $120 which seems like a lot to adjust some stoppers, lube some windows and glue some weather strip but originally I was considering

-new weather strip $256 -new window motors$412 -regulators ? -labour ?Their knowhow and honesty saved me a ton and I've gotten to know the vert better -Priceless
