Word on the street is it will void your warranty if they can prove the modification caused damage. Of course, anything that involves the exhaust from the manifold to just after the catalytic converter will likely affect your emissions warranty, and if the car were to catch fire as a result of an improper exhaust installation, this would void your warranty. Anything that involves nitrous oxide, head, internal components, or block modifications will void your warranty; installing a turbocharger will void the warranty. Then you also have to consider you have SEVERAL warranties; for instance, shaving the heads to increase compression will not void the warranty on your battery; installing a custom suspension will not void your drivetrain warranty... do you see my point?

Its called the Magnuson Moss Act. You can mod your car anyway you like, but you are voiding the original part completely. Also if your mods is what killed the car, then that too is a void.

ANYTHING that modifies the safety of the car, voids the entire warrenty, which includes lowering the car, Aftermarket steering wheel, Racing seats and harness. Non Factory big brake kits also void the warrenty simply because if you "upgrade" your brakes for far more abuse and for the "pretty" looks, and never use them properly, its a safety hazard. Most people think bigger is better when it comes to brakes, not true. Usually big brake kits on mild or stock cars significantly hurt performance.

Lowering a car with new springs will not affect the warranty of the engine and drivetrain components unless it can be proved or reasonably surmised that they caused the engine to fail.

If someone lowers their car by replacing springs and drives it on the street and the motor blows a head gasket, the manufacturer would have to honor that warranty unless it's proven the lowering caused the engine failure.

Lowering the car with new springs could void the warranty of the OEM shocks and other suspension components.

If the person were to drive it at a racetrack, the manufacturer may void the warranty of the engine because of the use of the vehicle from "normal driving conditions."

Most time lowering your car is a sign to manufactorers that the car is being used outside of their intended purposes. AKA, Racing. Lowering the car throws all the intended geometry out the window, and can have horrible effects overall. Excess stress on the structure of the car, that it wasnt designed for. This is why MOST companys void the Entire warrenty for lowering a car, Especially east to do you you get warrenty work to get done and ebay specials are there or Someone cut the springs.
