Guys... I need help.

This is a list of mods I'm lookin' at:

1. Injen Cold Air Intake - 339euro2. Motordyne Plenum Spacer V2 ISO Thermal Kit - 299euro3. Motordyne Plenum MREV2 - 549euro4. QAS ECU-Reflash 'Performance Plus' - 899euro5. QAS Flywheel 'Schwungscheibe' - 429euro6. QAS Short Shifter - 129euro7. DC-SPORTS Headers 'Facherkrummer' - 629euro+optional Edelstahl 102,59 euro8. HKS 'Hi-Power Ti' Exhaust - 1799 euro

So? Am I doin' good or going at it the wrong way? What do I need to throw out and what do I need to keep?

As you can see this is a N/A car and I don't plan on F/I too soon. Anything else you might recommend I add?

Thanks.

HKS makes a great exhaust, but it's overpriced in my opinion.

Skip the plenum spacer, and just get the Kinetix plenum. http://www.envisionelite.com/I....html

Headers are a great option, but a serious PITA to install.

Good start on the list though.

I can't find a company who would ship the Kinetix. I'm getting the plenum spacer along with the MREV plenum for a gained boost of 15+ hp. At least those I could find in Europe.

It's really a ***** trying to find someone who will ship parts from Japan or the US... airfare and taxes kill you.

I'm adding a Pulley from Unorthodox and thinking of UTEC instead of a simple ECU reflash.

Cams are a bit expensive and confusing... what the hell is: 260°/10,25mm 260°/9,25mm 270°/10,25mm 270°/9,25mm...which ones are better? At 1539euro it's a bloody expensive mod that I won't be getting soon (talking about Tomei "proCams").

Also, longer gearing, like 3.9:1, is it worth it? If it gets good gains, 995 euros isn't that much... again: is it worth it?

P.S. Hot hookers can be found for a lot less than 2000

the 260 degree and 270 degree are measurements of how long the valves will be open for. and 10,25mm 9,25 is lift, basically how much the valve opens in the combustion chamber. the cams with more duration will give you more power, by keeping the intake and exhaust valves open longer. thus letting more air fuel in, and exhaust out. i dont know at what lift you need to change your springs in retainers, but while your doing cams its not a bad idea to do springs and retainers at the same time.

You will notice more of an acceleration gain from a gear swap. If you can afford the gas, look at the 411 gearing. The parts guy from West Covina Nissan was telling me that it made his acceleration wicked. He could kill most anything that he lined up against. It also killed his gas mileage.

It's an 08 bought car, 0 miles (km), but with the 06 REV-UP engine.

Also looking to add a pulley.

So, the final list:

1. Injen Cold Air Intake2. Motordyne Plenum Spacer V2 ISO Thermal Kit3. Motordyne Plenum MREV24. QAS ECU-Reflash5. QAS Flywheel6. QAS Short Shifter7. DC-SPORTS Headers 8. HKS 'Hi-Power Ti' Exhaust9. Unorthodox Pulley

What gains will I see?

06 rev-up equals no plenum change or spacer needed. Use that money on something else... To pay for the header install!!! LOL it is a PITAIf you want to spend the money on HKS then go for it. Everything else seems like tasteful mades.

no idea.

bought it with 0 km in april 2008, it had 2008 production number attached, european temporary plates, everything in perfect order. brand new, no scratch, no use... but the REV-UP engine instead of the HR.

The Individual Throttle Body looks nice, but expensive. With transportation to europe, it's halfway what a F/I kit would cost... what gains would the throttle body kit get?

Well if you still in the market for head components and intake manifold components...

Then take a look at Cosworth. To my knowlege they are located in europe and have every engine part nessasary for your VQ build. For ALL head work I would go with Cosworth. For all internal components I would go with Cosworth.

Pulleys are a great idea and UR offers a real peace of mind. They are the best pulleys for the VQ.

I would also pick up some high flow Cats to go along with which ever exhaust you decide to use.

In terms of FI kit, I like APS.

yup, that's my car. and thanks mike.

I've purchased the mods. I am looking at 7 to 14 business days for delivery.

I'm also looking into the DLI II Twin Power Ignition Module thing-y from HKS. Don't know if it's worth it.

Thanks.

I guess I'm scrapping the DLI II Twin Spark HKS Ignition Module, since noone can tell me what gains if any this gets me.

Also, the initial list has been delivered! WOOHOO! I got my parts! I also ordered the Unorthodox pulley and a hood "shock"-thing to pop the hood and keep it up.

Here are two (badly taken) pictures with the first shipment. I am not installing the mods until I have them all delivered, so just 14 more days until the pulley comes and I can finally unpack these things. I am planning to detail the full install of every part with photos and am looking for a dyno to test the EXACT hp gains from each. (dyno stock, dyno with intake, dyno with and so on).

I hope you do. Even I'm getting excited thinking about all those parts. Can't wait to get some real numbers too!

R350Zz33 asked a valid question, this guy has supposedly an 08 model with an 06 engine? this doesn't shoot off any red flags to you? and the pic is clearly the early style hood, something doesn't add up here, the car has been stolen, built from scrap or somethign, all is not as it seems or it wouldn't be an 08 with an 06 engine

and the european dyno's read brake hp which is a bit higher than the us sae corrected numbers, I'd expect a gain of about 40 whp with everything

It's a real car, VIN, serial, german brief (big & small), registration and everything.

After some digging (which I didn't post here, since it didn't have anything to do with the mods) I found out that since it was registered in germany in april 08 it is listed as 08.

however, the engine is the "REV-UP" VQ35DE with 221kw. Also, the actual production date was listed (I should say hidden) in the "big brief" (german registration is done in two documents, a so-called "small" one which you can use for everyday roard use and car ownership document and the "big" one which is used for registering the car with the state/dmv/etc.) which I didn't look at... the ACTUAL production date: 05.09.2005. I was indeed disappointed with my purchase so I went to the local nissan dealership and asked them to double check the mileage, since I can't have gotten an 05 car in 08 with NO miles (kilometers).

But it seems the care checked out fine, brand new (from underside check to springs/shocks, mileage, oil, etc.) and never-been-used. So, I guess I have an 05 350z... with the REV-UP engine.

I could post a VIN number if someone could check it or even video the car and put it up on youtube. In any case, the mods are going up and I am documenting it all.

P.S. I checked out different mechanics and tuning gurus and found a great tuning house with trained mechanics (that worked on a fair number of Zs) that will install all the mods in 4 days at the cost of $1200. Seemed fair to me.
