Ken-

Now I am really confused:?  Does someone have an exclusive?

Mike, now I know where the term rust bucket comes from:P those need a date with your glass bead cabinet.  Looking good!!!

Now, does anyone know somebody who can duplicate these?

We'll what I can do with the blinker buckets.  Maybe some high temp Lab Metal to smooth it out so that it can be powdercoated.

As for the lenses...Ken's working on it....that's all I know

I finally got the lower control arms to the point where I could move on to other stuff.  They'll buy back about 2" of suspension travel once they're mounted.  They're still not 100%, but the rest will need to get done when they get mounted.

So...once I got the shop cleaned up, I pulled the NL in and started to play.  I've been wanting to work on the electrical for awhile now.  Since it is supposed to rain for about the next 10 days....what better time to get it in the shop!!!

I'm planning on doing a "how-to" thread on overhauling the light switch, but here's a couple of teasers.

I first went to the fuse....power was good.  I climbed under the dash and checked at the switch....good in, no out.  So I dropped the switch to check it again.

Like I said...I'll go into detail later about how to get the switch apart.  Here's what the guts looked like.  No wonder it didn't work!

After a date with the glass beads

Verified it worked on the bench, then hooked it back up.  I was grinning when my wife walked in because I had dash lights....she pointed out that I had tail lights too.  I connected the switch back up a wire at a time.  That way, if I had a short in a circuit, I'd know which one.   I'm not sure if I even have the other headlight bulb plugged in, so I'll check that tomorrow.  Yea!!!  Lights!!!  Now to get brake lights and I'll have the minimum I need to put it on the road.

Brake lights are easy.  Usually its a bad switch.  You could either go original with this:   or use the generic type with a change of connectors, like I did:

Actually, it turns out last year when I was doing the wiring harness, I prepped it for a switch at the pedal.  I prefer that type of switch since it engages even before any kind of pressure is built up.  I completely forgot about the prep work...until I was under the dash trying to run new wire....luckily, I caught it before I tried to splice into the harness :)

I just have to snake 3' of wire and put on 2 bullet connectors and I have brake lights :)

Thanks!  Nope...that's still on the cut bumpstops.  It won't be any lower with the new arms...just off the stops.

I might have to go back and do thumbnails on this thead instead of pic links...I try to reply and have to wait for the entire thread to reload :(

Mike, at the risk of sounding like a suckup, you're my hero.

I can't wait to start my body-off resto on my NL, you've inspired me to make her PERFECT.

Awesome work and you're welcome Mike!! Those are really great looking lenses! . I've decided you and Matti need to move with me to Alaska since it appears to be the last free frontier and you both are fabrication maniacs! And I'll need help with the Ruchwagon.

Thanks.  I hear fabricators can make a nice living up there :)  I considered Alaska for a couple of minutes, but I'm kinda spoiled by the parts/supplies availability around here. :)

Yep!  Too tired now...may post tomorrow.

She came off the jackstands around midnight on friday.....only to find out that I had to reindex the torsion bars...so back up it went.  When I let it down again...I had to readjust the toe-in.

I ended up taking a drive around the block at about 1am :)   Maiden voyage was Sat morning to Canby.  I was pretty anxious driving her for the first time.....but today was much more enjoyable!!

She runs and drives really nice.  If I can get the back end to rid as nice as the front.....she'll be really comfortable.  Brake pads are still seating in, but she already stops quick with 0 pull! :)
