My GF's Sentra (2005 1.8L) has an issue with misfiring on #4 cylinderFirst thought - change spark plugs. After clearing the codes - took a ride and codes came back. Next step - swap cyl 1 and 4 coilpack and see if there is a difference - nope. still code p0304 pops up. I swapped the spark plugs around to see if maybe one was bad, but besides that I am out of ideas.

Also for some reason the car is hard to start - takes couple of seconds to actually start. and once it does, it idles funny for 5-15sec than goes back to normal. what can it be?

There may be more than one problem, but the rough start, at least, sounds like fuel pump recall to me.

My friend with a '05 1.8 had the same problem, the dealership said it was the headgasket, so might be something to look into perhaps or the fuel pump recall or possibly the ECM going bad.

yeah, after searching everyone keeps mentioning the headgasket so we took it into the dealer, she's got the 75K extended warranty so I'll let them play with it.

I'd say more along the lines of a bad fuel injector. fuel pump would be for a rough start but it wouldn't cause a single cylinder misfire. it would cause a p0300 random/ multiple misfire if it were really bad. FPR wouldn't cause a single misfire either. I'd say the fuel injector is bad or could be clogged. and possibly it could not be receiving the right pulse width from the computer. this car is a sequential fuel injection system. or the injector isn't receiving a pulse at all. that seems like it would be the problem, but this is my opinion. hope this helps.
