Thought I might chime in here and give you a little info. A few things to be careful of.
- If you need to disconnect the starter signal wire from the starter for any reason, be very careful....they tend to break off.
- Inspect your spark plugs once removed. Look to see if cylinder two looks considerably different than the other cylinders spark plugs. If it is covered in a dark, thick black soot, you may hav excessive blowby on that piston. If you are concerned, turn the crank untill the piston is at it lowest point (bottom dead center) and see if there is a buildup of thick black, flaky deposits on the piston. Also, if there is any cleaned areas on the sides of the top of the piston, this is called oil wash. It happens on the MR20 motor, especially cylinder 2.
- NEVER MISS AN OIL CHANGE in your 2007 - PRESENT SENTRA. The MR20DE does not do well when oil changes are missed, even by as little as a thousand miles. If you miss too many, or use cheap oil, there is a possibility that you may experience what I just warned of above. This goes for any car.
- If the pistons look clean, as in you can see alluminum and no carbon, check your coolant level. If it's low, you may have a blown head gasket.
- Now that I have scared you, I will say that most of the time, the coil is to blame....just haven't seen too many fail on sentra's yet.
The manifold requires 8mm and 10mm sockets for its nuts and bolts. There are two brackets on it, one behind the throttle body and the other is behind the manifold near the timing cover. You shouldn't have too much truobles doing this yourself.
Hope this helps you!
