I will post this in 2 other sections as well. My problem fit in 3 sections. So dont get mad if you see this more than once. Just hoping somebody will help me.

I have just a few questions. I was able to figure out some of the things on my own, and i just rebuilt the motor in my truck (2.4 8-plug motor). This was my first rebuild ever and i followed the manual exactly and it started on the first hit......not bad for somebody who had never done it before. Anyway, i have a few questions that were not addressed in the manual.

1. WHen you are looking from the front of the truck, which coil goes to which terminal (intake and exhaust). I have tried them both ways with no significant change, but i want to be sure i do have them hooked up in the proper place like they are suppose to be. Try to be exact and specific as possible please.

2. At the bottom of the distributor, there is a blade (male) connector. And there is a wiring harness on the driver side of the engine compartment. The harness has a ground ring, and 2 female blade connectors. I am figuring one of those connectors goes to the distributor, but which one, and where does the other connector go.

3. I have an overheating problem. It has a new radiator, new water pump, new thermostat (which is out right now, or it gets alot hotter), and the timing is correct. I dont have a cracked head, so i am kinda stumped on this one.

4. I also have a hesitation problem, but i think mine is the TPS. Im waiting to get it in a few days.

By the way, this truck sat for seven years. Long story short, it broke down, my dad died in '97 (i didnt feel like working on it at the time), 2 "friends" tore my truck apart, lost all the bolts and some parts, and i lost interest (i did tinker with it some, but not much). I got it back together about a year ago, but i dont know if there are some things missing. Like i said, it runs good, i just need a little help with a few issues.

Also, i have had this truck SINCE 1987. Bought it new with 6 miles on it.

on over heating issue you have an air pocket in the system, open radiator top crank and let run until thermostat opens and bleeds the air out of the block. This is common problem when rebuilding or replacing water pump or doing a main drain of water system. leave top off of radiator until you see the water flow from themostat opening , that will burp the air out and it should be fine.
