28,000 miles = you're 1/2 way there.

Say Andy, what's the deal with Holdens down there? They seem to come with some serious engines yet I never hear that much about them?

All miles on regular 87 octane by the way.

Still runs great!

Another important day today that will be reached later this afternoon.

With 60k miles and figuring an average 20MPG that comes to approximately using 3000 gallons of regular gasoline. At $.30 a gallon cheaper than 93 octane I figure I've saved $900.00 in 2 1/2 years of owning my G 35.

Boy ten thousand miles sure went quick.

And so did the value of my 401k

Regular gas, regular oil, but most importantly... regular maintenance. We get awful caught up in debate about the right stuff to use and often overlook the fact that regular, competent maintenace is the real key.

Thanks for being a great example of practical, responsible car ownership.

You are absolutely 100% correct. There are an amazing number of automobile owners (my wife for instance) that feel it is only necessary to put gas in a vehicle and never check anything until they hear a strange noise. I've read many posts of engine noise and lack of oil because many never check their oil, other fluids, tire pressure, air and cabin filters, or rotate tires. Then they wonder why they have problems? In 60k miles my G has only required replacement of two tire pressure warning sensors and one drivers side air bag module all replaced under warranty by the dealer. This Infiniti G35 of mine is the best vehicle that I have ever owned.

According to the owners manual, 87 is okay for the sedan, but not the coupe. 91+ for the coupe.

I hit a milestone yesterday too. I had the oil changed at 44k, and needed drive belts.

It was 52º outside and raining. My milestone, was that I actually paid out $50 to have Nissan install the belts. If this had happened in the middle of summer, I would have done it myself, but I was tired, and the weather was the suckzorz.

Damn AC belt wasn't even on the car, and the drive belt was split. They looked fine a month or so ago...

See what you get for picking on Sean. He sent Big Louie to Washington just to mess with your car.

Hopefully I'll get another year out of my belts? They still looked pretty good when I changed my oil last weekend. 52° is not too bad but doing it in the rain does kind of suck. My car is garaged so that helps. I seem to recall Lacy is near Fort Lewis where I spent the last 8 months of my Army career back in 1966. It rained a lot back then so I guess its still raining.

I have a garage, but it's small, and I wasn't in the mood to jack it up and down, and mess with it yesterday. 50 bucks is 50 bucks, not happy to spend it for something that is that easy to do, but well spent in the sense that I didn't have to mess with it.

Yeah, I'm 10 miles by Highway from Ft. Lewis. I'm 4 miles by way the crow flies from the artillary range. It makes for some interesting evenings...

My G is getting 200 miles to the tank...

I don't drive the car like a mad man..its all city driving with a lot of stops.

Is the reason why my gas sucks? I use 91 at every fill up...

That's 10 mpg. Something is really wrong, either with how you accelerate, or maybe you need to have the car looked at. I get 16.7 to 16.9 with in city driving. That needs to be looked at.

Have you ever taken your G on a 3- 400 mile trip on mostly cruise control and calculated your MPG?

Short trips, heavy traffic, constantly starting and stopping will kill your MPG. I've gotten over 28 MPG a few times on trips to Florida from New Jersey.

No, i haven't taken the G on a road trip....I will take it to Vegas in about a month or so....

And yes, I have the WORST traffic you could imagine. My job is 7 miles away and it takes me about 45-60 min on the street....And the freeway even worse, 405 and the 10...foooorget about it

I hate living in LA due to the traffic, but then again...I really don't where else I would want to live

I will get the car checked, but I wont do it at Infiniti...they wanted to charge me $100 just to look at it...Last time I went to Nissan, they checked out the car and had a shuttle take me back to work....When I went to Infiniti to try to fix my spoiler, it took them about 1 1/2 to figure out it was an aftermarket spoiler and wanted to charge me like $250 to change the belts...what a joke

Going back to my post above...

It probably didn't take them 1 1/2 to figure out it was an aftermarket spoiler...probably took them 5 min to do that...But I was there for like 2 1/2 hrs and there wasnt even that many people. Maybe like 5 or so....

I did get a free car wash without asking, but I washed the car myself the day before and it looked 10x better...

Well you could always move to New Jersey.....No forget that, we have heavy traffic here too. I arrive at work at 5 AM and miss the traffic.

I would suspect you'll see better mileage on your trip to Vegas?Fill your tank before you leave & fill it again when you arrive in Vegas and let us know?

Another milestone reached today.

The eighth

It runs as good and possibly better today as it did on 12/31/05 when I drove it away from the dealer.

This is now the third winter for my G and INMHO the rear wheel drive 6 sp manual does fine in snow here in Central New Jersey. We had a 6 inch snowfall yesterday.

im at 31k... brought at 18k and its been only 6 months... time for a service...

got quoted $395 for 30k infinity sevice... i already did most of the stuff on the 30k list... just major fluids like tranny and differential left... timing advance... rotate tires/balance tires... all things i cant do in my apartment complex... so it should be half that $395...

Save some $$$ and take it to your Nissan dealer for the stuff you don't want to do.
