to answer your question, it should be covered if you can convince the dealer over me--4 yr bumper to bumper. sorry to break it to you but looking at these pictures it doesn't look like the plastic melted, it looks like its been cleanly broken. the right tip looks like it has damage to it and the scratches/sharp edges on/of the plastic. that and i haven't heard of this before from anyone, any car. i don't think the gases are hot enough to melt plastic once they reach the tips and if they are, it would be a slow process that would require hours of constant run time with the plastic constantly getting all the heat. but if its melted it would seem to me you have a bigger problem than just a melted bumper unless you were at a standstill for hours upon hours, don't quote me on that cuz i'm no tech (and no i'm not an insurance claims investigator, just using my powers of observation and a little reason).
