^^ and shortly after firing this, you have to search behind you for your shoulder and shooting arm! Sounds crazy trying to put this on an AR-15 lower.

naaaah.

all the lower does is provide a wide array of options for a trigger group and no need to register another rifle.

with a big comp they're not ridiculous.

most 50 cals are big heavy bastards too.

uncomped bigbore stuff like a .577 T-Rex or the big Nitro Exrpress loads will put a bigger thump on a person. They're usually in rifles considerably lighter.

I still don't trust an AR lower with a .50 bmg round.

It gives me pause as well. I would be interested in the longevity. This marriage might last as long a Brittany Spears'.

^ Not only that but what about your safety when you fire it. Would hate to have that kaboom on me.

there's plenty of factory f*** ups too.

a 50 BMG on an ar lower doesn't bother me.

the lower isn't under much pressure from it. about the only part of it that might see stress that could lead to issues would be around the threads for the buttstock.

I'd rather have a stand alone rifle though. I like having a box magazine for stuff...

K31. before they get more expensive.

hard to find a better shooting rifle for twice that price.

though the Savage Axis rifles sound really sweet.

After a long awaited return to the range the misfeeds on the LWRC are gone! I had suspected the 90 grain ammo was too light and the cause of the shortstroking. It appears I was right. I had 80 rounds of it left so I burned through it first. Well, more like stuttered through shortstrokes, doublefeeds and a lot of dropping the mags to clear stoppages and yanking the charging handle to pick up rounds from the mag. No drama from me, I expected it.

Now, the moment of truth. I only had time to check three different loads of the six I brought because I had to do some diagnosis on the .45 as well. 40 rounds of each, Silver State Armory 6.8, 110gr sierra prohunter and nosler bonded and 115gr sierra OTM. Not trying to aim, just burning through them to confirm that the rifle liked how they tasted, ZERO malfunctions, flawless performance from all with the 115gr stuff noticeably harder-hitting. I'll likely go with that in the future.

There was a guy next to me shooting a 5.56 DPMS M4 clone and it was chewing up the steel cased ammo with similar enthusiasm so that sort of answered a question for me about that stuff. He came around when I stopped to load my last mag and asked "what is that thing, it's loud." I explained it was chambered in 6.8 SPC and it was an AR just like his and let him take it for a spin. He commented it hit a bit harder and the handguards were really hot. I encouraged him to put his finger on the closed bolt and feel how hot it wasn't. I popped the handguard top off and showed him the piston drive. He seemed impressed. He made sure to check the logo on the magwell. LWRC, I want a coupon or something for possibly selling another rifle for you! ;)

ha.

I need an AR.

it's hard to beat the level of performance for the price in a battle rifle.

a Sig 516 Patrol might be tempting.

or a Ruger SR556

The Ruger looks like a very well built rifle. If the 516 is as well built as my 556 it will be a good buy too.

If you would not mind a direct impingement rifle, the S&W M&P and Colt ARs are top shelf and competitively priced. For a bit more you can pick up an LMT with interchangeable barrels. If I could figure out a reason why I should get one other than it's cool, I would.

I don't mind the DI guns.

I'd rather not have one though as I'm southpaw and with dirty ammo it's not very pleasant to shoot. AK's too. And you can get the SIG Patrol and the Ruger 556E pretty damn cheap. I'd likely add in my own stock choices and such. I may just build a DI gun though. Probably use a Spike's Lower and Bravo company upper

Had to cull the herd to make room for some new goodies. I'll miss the Saiga and Sig 556, but I wanted that .300 Blackout and a couple of bolt guns.

The latest stable.
Image

The two big brothers, the .300 Blackout and the 6.8. Yeah, that's pink Magpul furniture.
Image

300 is an Advanced Armament 16" upper with suppressor compatible flash hider on a Spikes Tactical lower. The lower is a consignment buy and came with the Magpul stuff and Spikes heavy buffer. That is likely why it shoots so easy; not mouch more kick than a 5.56.
Image

Mr. Smith has gotten an overhaul. It's now rocking the Magpul fixed stock over an A2 buffer tube with a Spikes Tactical slug in it to retain the carbine buffer and spring. Up front we have a Troy aluminum foregrip in full length configuration; it's two piece and can be taken down to half the length, but I like the storage space. Above that is my new lightweight, basic bolt gun, a Ruger American in .308 with a Leupold scope.
Image

That scope came off my other consignment buy, this sexy Remington 700. It has, I think it's a 24" barrel and is chambered in .223. The stock is heavy as a mofo and the Harris bipod I added to it makes it even heavier. Definitely not a rifle to carry around a lot.
Image

After I stole that scope, though, it needed some new glass so I picked up this little number. It's calibrated to .223 ballistics and has bullet drop compensation, flip up lens covers and a honeycomb shade.

I have a grab bag of miscellaneous AR stuff I would like to sell. PM me if you wants. ;)
Image

It includes a VTOR stock for a mil spec carbine buffer tube that came off my LWRC,
Image

A standard grip that came off my S&W.
Image

Two Magpul MIAD grip back straps, three front straps, a front sling mount...
Image

Also, three rail covers off the LWRC and a front sling mount.
Image

I'll take $140 shipped for all of it.

How do you like the Ruger American in 308? I want one, or maybe I'll save for the Gunsite Scout.

The bolt is notchy, up purposefully, then back. It's not a fluid motion like the 700, but you can quickly adopt a confident one-two motion to cycle it. It is VERY light which I like for a Toyota Corolla do it all rifle. I haven't gone to the range with it yet so I don't yet know if this will translate to heavy recoil. I had my eye on the Gunsite Scout as well, but decided if I wanted a magazine-fed .308 utilitarian rifle I would just get an AR10 type weapon.

Let me know if you use any 7.62 in it and if it handles it fine as well.

Yeah I thought about the AR10, but believe I'd save money with the GunSite, both in the gun and shooting less ammo with the bolt action.
