Is this possible has anyone ever done it on stock ecu with just an afc to tune with just curious mostly seems like a map sensor would be better than a maf set up. The AFC I have is the old apexi with the knobs.

That won't work. you have to pull a MAP and an air temp sensor. The SAFC won't convert it for you. You need an HKS Vein Pressure Converter to do that.

There were several off the shelf chips for common combination that would allow you to get close enough to use the adjustment knobs to fine tune it. The chips could be reflashed like an ECU's ROM.

If you look at the rear of the intake you will see a sensor on the firewall supplied by the red hose. That's the pressure sensor. In the side of the surge tank at the very back you will see a sensor screwed into it. That's the air temp sensor.

Compared to running with the AFM, the response and power was noticeable. Of course that might be from removing the S14 turbo and putting on the T04E,,,naaa. ;)

The device on the right bottom is the VPC. Above it is the Graphic Control Computer, GCC, that adds RPM-range fine tuning. The basic VPC only has a gain knob that cranks the whole map up. It says PFC, but that's because the same GCC could be plugged into an F-CON.

It's not worth it. That stuff is 30 year old technology.

VPC is definitely not worth it.

Most standalones use speed density load detection, but that's a different ball of wax (and definitely worth it, depending on your state of tune/mods.)

If you're getting better power and response by converting to a MAP sensor setup I would advise you to take a long hard look at your intake piping and figure out where the restriction(s) is/are.

Consider an AEM v2 ecu. Those run map sensors. Or you could find a s14 PFC J jetro (MAP version) instead of the D jetro (MAF version).

D-Jetro is the MAP sensor speed density type.
