Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, thanks for any feedback you can give me.

I have a 2011 m56x with 60k miles, I've had it for 1 year and replaced the battery 2 months ago and the air filters 2 weeks ago.

The problem I've been having since about November 2014 (when the temp dropped below 30), when I have let the car sit for > 8 hours, when I start it, it starts fine and revs up ok, but when the rpms go down to normal idle the car stalls. This will happen multiple times in a row. If I give the car a little bit of gas when starting it will not stall and everything runs fine. I brought the car to the dealer 2 days ago and they performed a idle relearn procedure but this didn't solve the problem. The dealer said if this doesn't solve the problem I should replace the throttle bodies. I asked about cleaning the throttle bodies and they said this is not advised on this car as this has direct injection.

I'm skeptical of replacing the throttle bodies as the car drives great. There hasn't been any check engine lights, it literally seems like it just doesn't get enough gas sometimes when it cold starts. When the engine is warm, this doesn't happen and it doesn't have a rough idle or stall once started or while driving.

Has anyone else had this problem, any ideas? Thanks for any feedback!

I have had a slightly similar problem. When it's been REALLY cold, the car will stall after running for 1-2 seconds. I start it a second time, and then it's fine for the rest of the time/day until it's been sitting for a long time again.

Now that it's warmer (around 20-30 every day), I haven't had this issue. This only happened on the days when it was -10 or whatever.

Have not been to the dealer about it.

How long are you letting it warm up after first crank.

I know this thing runs rich as hell when cold, assume if its sitting outside overnight it would be worse. I've not experienced the issue but park in garage and try to let it warm up at least a minute or two on cold days.

Thanks for feedback,
I park in a garage as well, and do let it warm up when cold. The problem happens when starting the car, not after it's been running. This issue is also intermittent, this morning it didn't happen, but yesterday when it was parked outside for 9 hours while at work, it did. It wasn't that cold out here yesterday, around 15 degrees.

The exact thing IlyaKol mentioned is happening to me. Starts, runs for 1 second and stalls. If I give it gas, it starts like normal. It always idles fine once started and doesn't stall when driving/etc.

I would reset ecu by leaving your battery unhooked for an hour and turning on lights while it's unhooked to clear ecu of electric.then reconnect it and it will relearn the car again.if it still does the cold stall start up.its probably your fuel pump.or fuel filter is on its way out...goodluck.had that problem with my q45.turn out to be fuel filter.car had 54k on it when thus happend

I have the same problem. Thought it was just my car. Whenever the car has sit overnight and the temperature is cold, the car will not turn over. I have to give it some gas right after it cranks and that seems to get it going. Tslag, i am like you in that I don't think it's the throttle body. The car runs fine when it's warm outside.

Since the weather has been > 30 degrees, the problem hasn't happened. This problem hasn't happened for the last 4 days. I guess it just doesn't like the cold.
