If there can be no gains made from the R2C intake, then they won't make the application, that is pretty simple. But instead of being the "nay sayer" from jump street, how about we let the data tell us whether or not there is any reason to make this setup? If you are going to be so negative, stay out of my thread, period.
Respectfully, there was NO need to be that childish, and normally I would just have a laugh and move on. However, you mentioned character? Character is demonstrated by responding intelligently and respectfully to criticism, not by assaulting the critic. As for backing up statements with data? I have data to support the fact that a CAI will do almost nothing without a tune. If you can demonstrate a noticeable HP increase without a tune, I would like to see it and I will stand corrected and stop nay-saying the idea of a CAI. Watch this:

Of course companies will make applications like CAI's. It makes a great sound when you mash the pedal and most people don't have access to a Dino to actually verify the company claims. Some other examples of stuff peeps buy like crazy even though they do not do live up to the seller's claims:
1) The famous magnetic MPG gizmo - a red box that you bolt around the fuel line to 'align the fuel molecules' and increase your MPG by 5-10 miles per gallon. (too bad fuel isn't magnetc and is not affected by the product).
2) The little gizmo you shove into the exhaust pipe to make 'turbo blow-back' sounds. (It's actually a plastic whistle and it sounds like one too).
3) The front license plate cover or spray that jams radar and CCTV speed cameras. (it was tested by many police departments and it does nothing but make your plate shiny.
Installing a CAI is NOT a waste of money - it does make a nice sound and it makes the engine appear to have more power, but it has been proven time and time again that the most HP gain is usually less than 10 - not even close to makng a noticeable difference unless you combine it with an actual tune - then you're ARE adding noticeable power.
Correct me with data if I am mistaken.
