Question to you owners. I just got my M35 on Saturday, LOVE IT, and it is my first Infinity. I have had many cars in various states tune, mostly Mustangs, carbed & FI cars so I do understand A/F mixtures and all that is associated with making the car run properly.
I am looking at doing a cat back system on my M35 and I'm curious to find out, will I need to get the car tuned or will it run properly w/o throwing a code after installing the system?
Please share your wisdom O Great Infinity M35 Owners With Exhaust Systems Similar To The Set Up I Want To Put On My Car. lol

it'll run fine without throwing any codes, but an ecu reflash/tune will make a huge difference (uprev Osiris)

As you all know, I've done a lot of changes with my exhaust system over the years and after picking up a set of the Megan mufflers -- again -- now with the blue burnt tips, I think I'm done :)

I've had them on for almost a week and have been getting compliments and it's been a conversation piece with other M owners on the road!!! My original Megan mufflers will be available at a low price.... Will be asking for local buyers first...

I've also took off the high flow cats and Motordyne xyz ypipe... It's time to keep the car somewhat quiet since it'll be driven by my son and for business needs by my wife... The car still has the Megan mid pipes and the new Megan axle backs and it sounds great....

I've put up the Berks and Motordyne ypipe for sale... Let me know if you are interested....

Just got my M45 a month or so ago. Removed the resonators and went with Flowmaster 40 mufflers.

My exhaust setup is a true dual with Magnaflow 18" resonators and Magnaflow mufflers and oval stainless tips. Primary cats were kept and secondary cats removed. I have screwed around with the exhaust many times before finding the "perfect" setup sound wise.

DH3 they sound great from the outside! I'm wondering though if it's also loud inside the car? How much louder do you reckon the interior sound level is compared to the stock exhaust?

Hey CPJ LB, by any chance do you still have the Megan catback exhaust that you removed? If so how much?? And would you be willing to ship, i will gladly pay any reasonable shipping charges? I cant get the stainless Megan catbacks anywhere! Everyone i call including Megan is out of stock with ridiculous eta times of two months.

If you are looking for a nice mellow burble on an M45, simply remove the rear auxiliary mufflers located in front of the rear mufflers. Cut them out and have a piece of pipe welded in their place. easy to do, cost me about $50 at a muffler shop. :yesnod

Hello all,

Just picked up a 09 M35 S and love it. ;) This is great forum with solid information. Thanks to the contributors!!

Wondering whether it is worth doing Megan exhaust upgrade first, and then upgrading the midsection later to spread out the cost?

Thanks,

Tree

I found a few in stock online.

Update: After further research, all backordered or waiting for Megan to produce more next month.

Thanks.

1sttree,

I have a brand new in the box megan exhaust. Midsection and cat back. I actually just sold my M45s and I was never able to put it on so I have no need for it. DM me for more info if you're interested.

Does anyone have a writeup on the Megan exhaust install? I'm gonna do it over at a buddy's house who has a lift but I'm not sure what tools he's got so I was planning on bringing my own. What should I bring with me?

Thread revival time! I'm about to get my friend who owns a muffler shop to get install a pair of Magnaflow 14816 mufflers and fabricate me a custom catback exhaust. Looking at the full Megan exhaust, it has the crossover mid section and the stock exhaust has a very restrictive looking Y connector that splits back out. For my 08 M45 should I let him make me a true dual setup or should I have him install an X pipe? The VQ35 and VK45 have a distinctive sound that I dont want to lose if I go with a true dual setup.

Looking for feedback if anyone has any regarding the difference in sound of a dual exhaust setup without an X pipe or if there are any disadvantages flow wise?

I have to do some homework on what exhaust to go with. I was thinking Stillen. We'll see though.

Do our cars lose power if we do an exhaust system with headers? (Headers back exhaust). What's the maximum size since we do not have turbos or superchargers? 2.5 inch? 2.25 inch?

No, different flanges that connect to the exhaust manifold.
