My trans now has 162K, rebuilt at 89k. I bought the car at 111K, did a pan drop only, then (after being educated on the Yahoo forum) did a flush & fill with synthetic at 120K & installed aux cooler. Did a filter change then another flush at around 150K, with Valvoline MaxLife conventional (that's all they would use at the shop). I intend to flush & fill next time with synthetic. I noticed that the trans rebuilders used lubeguard on the initial fill. I'm having no issues now. Should I use a bottle of lubeguard as PM before the next flush ? Red or black for a trans with no apparent problems ? NAPA told me that the black was for Chryslers...

Lubeguard is an excelllant additive [as is BG AT Conditioner] both are added into the new ATF after the flushes.

The Nissan transmission uses Nissan D ATF which is not exactly like Dexron III, therefore to closely approximate Nissan D you should add about 5-6 ounces of Lubeguard Black to Conventional or Mobil Syn ATF...........over and above what other additive you use............as neither BG nor Lubeguard Red have the friction modifier.

If you purchased 1 red and 1 black Lubeguard you could get two treatments half of each after each flush.

I use 11 ounces of BG Conditiner and 5 ounces of Black Lubeguard and remove a pint- quart of ATF after the flush, add the mixture and zero in on the perfect level after the new ATF is hot!

If you use too much black the transmission can slip at lockup.
