So most everyone in here should know I bought a Nissan pickup. One of the things I would like to do is lower it. I have been looking around and cant find anything helpful other than something about adjusting a torsion bar...? I just want like a 2" drop or so, not slammed on air or anything.

Any help would be great, thanks

for the front just go to the torsion bar anchor bolts and turning them to the right while holding the nut on top in place will take it down pretty quickly...i'm not sure about the structural integrity of removing the middle leaf spring in the rear... i used 2" lowering blocks that i picked up at checker

anyone have a pic of where these blocks are on the rear of the truck?

I dont get the truck till tomorrow so I cant look myself yet. Also a pic of what to do with the torsion bar would help. I'm new to small pickups

You could put SwayAway torsion bars on, they are a few hundred dollars. I don't know if you even want to spend that on your truck, but just so you know, they do make them. The SwayAway's would increase the spring rate.

this is what the torsion bar anchor bolts look like... loosening them lowers the truck

just follow the torsion bars back from the suspension

and this is where the lowering blocks go... different shocks are "recommended

mine is a 3" drop front and 2" drop rear

Awesome post

To drop it 3 inches, would I have to put longer bolts in? Or will the stock ones handle it? I will have to find a place locally to buy suspension blocks now hah

EDIT: How thick are our stock ones?

you can buy the blocks through most auto parts stores but they're in the back (not on shelf). you will most likely need custom u- bolts though which you can just take the old ones to a suspension shop for radius length and thickness and they can make them.

as far as the torsion bar bolts... mine had way more than enough room to lower it to the ground if i wanted. it all depends on what year yours is and whether its 2 or 4 wheel drive... you'll have to see

*** important note!!!! you will need an alignment after lowering the front.

my 3" drop that i did in the front was the max i could go in order to keep the camber from being too positive. just something to think about

I Did a 3" drop on my hardbody. I got the 3" blocks from pep boys and they came with the U bolts for $25. I then had a 2 degree angle machined on the bottom of the blocks so the driveshaft angle would not be off. Then I lowered the front with the torsion bars.

You will need different shocks. My front shocks were dead, so I went with some Toxic shocks for lowered trucks. If you're dropping it 3", you will need to cut the bump stops or replace them with low profile bump stops. I took mine out for the time being while i cut them and put them back.

I had a camper shell on the back when I lowered it, so the rear raised up a bit when I took it off. pay no attention to the paint job. It will be fixed soon.

okay so I found a universal set at a local shop. the U bolt are 3" wide and the drop blocks are 2.5 inches. I forget what he told my the width of the blocks is. Would this potentially work?

it should be good to go. the blocks should be about the same with as your leaf springs, and just try out the u bolts because i'm not 100% sure the actual radius. its pretty obvious if its correct because you can compare them the the old ones

So I did this and it all worked out. I am taking the bump stops out this week as I forgot to do it. I think the back will now drop a little more than it stands now, what type of bolts (size/thread pitch) are in the front? I want to get longer ones as I am on the end of the threads right now with the loking nut still on it.

As Sway Away's would increase the spring rate you could try putting it away torsion bars on, they are a few hundred dollars.

as far as the torsion bar bolts are concerned mine had way more than enough room to lower it to the ground if i wanted. it all depends on what year yours is and whether its 2 or 4 wheel drive... you'll have to see. Remember you need an alignment after lowering the front.
