I recently bought a 2002 sentra spec v. I'd like to make some upgrades but don't know where to start. If you have any ideas please let me know.

Catback exhaust.

http://www.brmexhaust.com, one of the nicest setups for a B15 you'll find.

If it doesn't have a header, get one before the precat blows up. Loctite the butterfly screws too.

Once that's done, pick up an exhaust or intake (or both).

I personally haven't heard a better sounding exhaust than BRM's, but it kind of depends on what sort of sound you want. If you like it low and mellow, BRM is the way to go, IMO.

No, I'm not saying that to suck up. I like Stromungs and Thermals, I even like Greddy and I've heard some custom setups that sound nice too, but all of them were too buzzy to me to listen to every day.

Hey whats going on - what are your current modifications? I saw the new wrp technology angled intake manifold spacer in the new new magazine of nissan sport and yielded really good gains and it's only 230 bucks iirc- i would look into finding one of those for your car -

well i drove to work one day and my car started clicking. I checked the oil after work and there was no oil on the dipstick. So i had someone drive me to get oil and put 2 quarts in. When i started it, it ran fine so i started driving it home. Then the same noise came back and it died. I had to get it towed to a shop and they said the oil wasn't draining to the bottom of the engine so it fried.

Yep, your car ate its pre-catalytic converter. Nissan owes you an engine.

Or it ate a butterfly screw, in which case Nissan still owes you an engine.

THE BUTTERFLY SCREW COMES LOOSE FROM AGRESSIVE DRIVING.IT CAN BE AVOIDED BY LOCKTITING (SP) THEM.

OH AND FOR THE PRECAT. The QR25DE tends to run a fairly rich air/fuel mixture so it is very likely that not all fuel is being combusted in the cylinders and instead combusted in the precat, which can cause it to break apart into small pieces. These substrate pieces get sucked back into the cylinder and damage the cylinder walls.

I COPYED IT FROM SOMEOTHER POST

The butterfly issue isn't purely the result of aggressive driving. It can just happen.

The precat disintegrates and parts of it get sucked in back through the exhaust valves. The screws come loose over time because the butterfly was designed poorly and they can be sucked in via the intake manifold.

You dont need a warranty..its called a recall...Nissan owes you a motor...take it to any nissan dealership and tell them you want a new motor

Incorrect - there was no recall for the catalyst itself, just a recall to place a heat shield behind the catalyst so that in event of a failure it would prevent the motor from catching fire when a rod would get thrown the the block -

you may have a better angle if the motor swallowed a butterfly screw and that caused the failure. There was a recall for that in the 2002-2004 years and it would still be a strech though.

If you need a motor, let me know. I live in DE but I have a brand new zero mile engine and I would need your motor back, but we can work something out -

also on the spacer that I mentioned earlier, email [email protected] for one - they have them in stock now -

If you would like to talk about getting a motor - shoot me an email, i'm not on here very much - [email protected] is my email -

thanks, william
