It has 90,000 miles on it...maybe 91 by now. It's silver on black, premium package and NAV, new tires and new brakes. I was originally looking for a lower mileage one but he's only asking $13,000. So if I sold my BMW I would actually make money if I were to talk him down a little. Is this a good deal? I know 90,000 miles isn't that much but what about in a year or two when it has 115,000 miles?

would check KBB and shoot for < PP.
But, also would depend on the maint. history and how it checks out.

only thing i'd be slightly worried about is the transmission. If its been flushed i would say two times by 90k miles, you should be good. then the spark plugs should be due also. But if its been maintained 90k is nothing to a G.

if i was buying that car, for my own sanity i would get every fluid/filter changed and the spark plugs changed. I'd go ahead and factor that into the price. Thats what i did on my 2005 G35x i brought in 2008 lol. it ran like new when i traded it at 72k (at idle you wouldnt know the engine was on from inside the car)

How difficult is it to change all the fluids and how much would it cost?

oil about $50
transmission about $100
awd transfercase about $100
power steering should be less than $50
coolant flush about $100
brake fluid about $100
incabin filter about $100 if you let the dealer do it, $20 if you do it your self
air filter $100 if you let the dealer do it, about $50 if you do it your self
air induction cleaning, i forgot how much that was...

i think i named them all... they dont have to all be done at the same time, mainly transmission and spark plugs of most concern.

In my BMW I did the oil myself because the mechanic wanted $95 but on this car it should only be about $30 so I'll have it done so I won't have to deal with the oil. Filters could be done by myself but I don't know about the brake, coolant, awd, power steering and transmission. Are these things that could be done with some mechanical inclination or do you need mechanic tools?

And if I did all this stuff would there be many other problems that are likely to arise or is like a Honda where all it needs is maintenance?

i forgot rear differential...

thus far in my two Gs it just been, do the maintence... car treats you right. which is why I'm a repeat buyer.

all those can be done with regular tools, i personally would only do engine oil and filters my self... and i believe you void the powertrain warranty if you mess with the transmission. Just get those other fluids replaced, if they havent been already, as you get oil changes starting with the transmission, then spark plugs should be next...

You should be able to find one for less than $13K on a 2004. I wouldn't pay more than 11 for it. IMO.

Mileage is really not an issue though, it should run 200K+ with proper maintenance.

I'm going to look at a 2005 g35x with 95k...a little more than I hoped for. There's a mark on the bumper and the front had been hit but it was fixed and never even reported to the insurance company so it must not have been too expensive. The mark will hopefully buff out. The car is white...not my favorite but what do you think? Image

What kind of transmission fluid is used in an '05 x? I've heard Nissan Matic whatever is recommended but is there anything that I can get at Napa or something?

this is how the FSM for a 2005 sedan reads...

A/T fluid: Genuine Nissan Matic J ATF
Fluid capacity: 10.3 (10-7/8 US qt, 9-1/8 lmp qt)

CAUTION:
Use only Genuine Nissan Matic J ATF. Do not mix with other fluid.
Using automatic transmission fluid other than Genuine Nissan Matic J ATF will cause deterioration
in driveability and automatic transmission durability, and may damage the automatic transmission,
which is not covered by the warranty.
When filling A/T fluid, take care not to scatter heat generating parts such as exhaust.

since 2008 i believe, the nissian transmission fluid has been upgraded to Matic S ATF, i'm assuming cause its sythetic now. If your car is still under powertrain warranty, i'd advise against using anything other than Matic S ATF. :yesnod

Ask your local Infiniti dealership who they use for seat repairs. "That guy" should be able to help you....at a small cost of course.
