Well, got my first error on my little baby. The rear liftgate open warning is on. It appears to be related to.the latch as if I leave the door open and stick a pencil in the latch to.press on it the error will disappear. It did this once before and I just.open and closed it and it was OK but.now the warning is on constantly. From looking at tge parts diagrams there are pinchbsensors, switches (2 kimds) and the latch itself. Does anyone know what zi need to replace?

The latch switch is built into the lock assembly. They misbehave when the contacts in the little microswitches in the lock wear out. You can sometimes fix it temporarily by bending the the actuator arm on the switch slightly, but that won't last. All you're doing is shifting the contact point slightly, but eventually the worn section will catch up to it and it will fail again. The lock assembly really needs to be replaced.

On a '21~'22, you should pop the panel and check for rust. They had a known issue with the factory wiper pivots leaking into the door. There's an improved pivot seal if that's your issue.

Ughhh.. It only has 10k miles on it and its always garaged. I think it got caught out.in the rain once overnight but even the rotors have no rust yet. The dealer estimate to replace it is about 950.00 lol. The cheapest online part I can find is 320.00 Depending on how easy it is to remove I can save six hundred buckaroos. Talk about insane parts prices. My guess is the voltage and current is too low to keep the contacts from carbarbonizing. Ill take the panel off. Just yank it out like a door panel?

Easy-peasy. The inside panel just pries loose, then there are a set of hex screws on the outside holding the lock assembly (13mm heads IIRC). The lock connector is usually easier to get off if you dismount the lock and then rotate it and pull it inside the door, where you can get at the connector release lever without contorting your fingers.

Ok, panel is out. When I look in the hole there is a part number on it for this thing... Thats what I need to replace right? There are all these other bits in there wires cables.. most of it isn't related. The wiper motor, camera, licence plate lights but wait there is more.lol..

You want #2 on the diagram. The part number is 90500-6RA0A, 90500-6RR0A, or 90500-6RR1A. They're all the same part. Use those numbers for googling and you'll get the right stuff.

Sorry, you said you had pinch sensors so I assumed you had an ABD. If it's manual then yes, that's the right part.

Phew.. Thanks.. Cause I ordered it allready lol
Yes, the pinchbsensors, the diagram showed a bunch of parts I don't have. Remember the old days you put your VIN in and the parts showed up for your VIN and the pictures at least sort of looked like the one you had? I miss those days.

Can't help the crappy pics with no referent to where they fit, I have no idea why Nissan did that. The old parts drawings were much better. However, there is still a site where you can plug in your VIN and get the right stuff. Try https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com.

I think its just cheaper and faster to make the diagrams that way. Anyhow, interesting observation. The switch in the latch also.operates the rear dome light on top of the warning so my guess is its just telling the control module the door is open and the control module is turning the lights and sirens on. I got the new part today from out of state. 316.00 no tax. Almost a week to get here but I still saved 600 bucks. I want to take the old one apart to see if it can be repaired but It doesnt look promising. I saw a guy repair a door lock actuator and he had to cut part of it open with a dremel. The new part appears to be two revisions newer. The contacts on it are gold flashed too. Fancy. I didnt get the old one out yet so it might have gold flashed contacts too. Thanks for your help again.

@VStar650CL You wouldn't happen to know how the push-button sender unit for the liftgate is removed would you? It looks like it is snapped into a plastic finisher plate of some sort. I am trying to help someone else. We got the inside panel removed and a plastic cover which reveals the back of the switch. It appears to have a large horizontal clip on each of the long sides. It looks likely it may pull out from the outside if the car? I don't want to break the plate it is clipped into since Nissan doesnt appear to offer that part for sale.

On the gen3's you can remove the opener switch without removing any of the outside trim. You need a very thin finesse tool or spudger to slide under one end and release the pawl that holds it in. Here are the R&I instructions from the '21 FSM:

Thanks again. She managed to remove it and repair it. Seems the little button part under the rubber slipped out and went sideways under the rubber so she flipped it back into place.

You're most welcome. Those depressors getting dislocated usually means the rubber is getting weak and stretched. We replace a lot of those switches on a lot of different models, but fortunately, on the gen3's that's really easy.
