Hey guys, I'm in the middle of an engine swap on my 2+2 to TT. The engine I'm swapping in had a blown head gasket. Apparently when it blew, it actually melted some of the head which had literally just been replaced with new ones from Z1 (according to PO). Long story short, I noticed this as I was reassembling the engine after a mild rebuild. I have a set of NA heads that I'm going to swap the TT valves into since the NA heads have early style valves. The lifters in the TT heads were all solid until they ended up on their sides during storage. Now they are all soft when I squeeze them. Are they shot or will they refill with oil once the engine starts up? Thanks!

You have to "rebuild" the lifters, not a big deal, you pull them apart and reassemble them in a pool of oil.

I've tried pulling the smaller inner cylinder out and can't seem to get it. I've tried slamming them on the work bench and pulling with pliers. And tips on this?

I slammed mine on a vise gapped open to allow the lifter to pop out, it was a tedious pita.
