Let's talk about Rap & Hip Hop here.

industry talk, what's hot, what's not, underground, mainstream, freestyle, battling, recording, producing, chop & $crewing, anything rap/ hip hop related...

or if you want to kick us some knowledge on stuff you don't think we've ever heard of... let it be known here.

Leroy Brown...

I know you said you've got like a 15k collection... give me some stuff you think I've never heard before. I know by all the stuff you've been posting, it seems like you like a lot of underground/ conscious type brooklyn rap...got anything else? I've always been into that grimey hardcore gangsta goony type rap... but I'm alway up for new stuff. If I'm gonna listen to NY stuff... I'd be more into stuff like Shook Ones... queens NY type rap.

watcha got?

but first off... Current and relevant musician's that drive our genre today... in the MAINSTREAM.

CommonWeezyKanyeJay-zRick RossTI

feel free to ad any other big names. but that gets the sugar coated candy jams out the way... now back to the old school...

I really miss gangstar and classic DJ premiere.

I was looking through Itunes a few weeks ago and downloaded ghostface killah- the champ.

I really liked the beat, the only thing I hate is the talking, theres too much of that in rap songs.

That's sweet. Can't wait.

The latest CD I've purchased is the GZA's Pro Tools. It's tight. Love it.

I love HIP HOP! Not the crap being played on radio, but the raw shiznit, like the underground.

The last show I went to was the 07 Rock The Bells in San Bernardino. That was off the hook. Paid Dues show was hot!

The mention of Lil Wayne makes me shudder. He has party music but as a lyricist, he's terrible, and the voice box thing is plenty overdone. He's the epitome of mainstream. I think the word mainstream is kinda thrown around without people defining it though. Mainstream itself is fine especially when people originate trends, and then move along, innovate. Weezy is no innovator, everything he's doing has been done before. The Carter II is his best. III is trash.
