Cheap HG Blew...go figure, this is how my "ENGINE" looks for now...

OEM HG going on Monday morning I'm pretty sure :dblthumb:

Can't start it and get the water/oil mix out completely (already drained it) until my ECU comes back from having my NISTUNE board installed.

I was thinking Zebra Print Valve Covers/Cam Covers...which is it lol kinda both really maybe Zebra print on the Upper Timing Belt Cover/Cam gear cover.

I have about 1300 miles on the motor I just did my 1st synthetic oil change, I plan on mobil 1 and and decent filter...tho I never have had an issue with a FRAM and millions of people use them....my friend uses an oil called swepco that he says is good, royal purple seems too expensive. I just don't see the point on a OEM turbo to worry about things that minimal, this is a DD/Track car not a 1/4mile beast

cut apart a fram filter and you'll see why it costs 3$.
its not the turbo you have to worry about, its the engine bearings.

i had broken the oil pump in my honda, gears were broken in like 7 places. It went un noticed for 3 miles, i had attempted to beat on it and it just fell on its face, i was like WTF so just cruised it home, tried 1 more time... same thing, then i finally noticed the oil pressure gauge sitting at 0 psi!! i was pretty much home already... tore the motor apart found the oil pump...

took all the rod bearings a couple mains and cams out to my amazement they all looked great.. so great that i put it all back together with a new oil pump using the same bearings...

the reason for the stumble was the turbo stopping too btw

The point of my rambling is that i was using royal purple for oil... i wont be using anything else

this is also a motor that made over 600whp (all the time) continuesly got raped to 9k RPM etc so i was surprized to say the least

i made a bracket out of 16G sheet stainless steel that fits the resivour, then i bolted it to the front of the cylinder head right behind the upper timing cover..

There is a picture of it mounted on the previous page ( last post on that page)

Looks good - I think I have some scrap sheet metal I can use to cut/reweld the stock bracket to relocat it to a position like that.

Yezzir, it was a b**** of a job, took me 5 days to swap the whole engine/tranny, took me 5 months to get that crap on there. Of course it woulda helped if I had my own tig welder. RB's are such great sounding engines and those ITB's are so sweet :yesnod
