Can't sepak for the M, but I did LEDs on my Acuras that dimmed the domes and I never had any issues, granted I only kept my cars 12-18 months, but in that time no issues. Actually the new TL uses LEDs now in the interior.DoN_BLaZe34 wrote:Bump. Has anyone had issues with shortened life or flickering led bulbs do to the dimming mechanism of the dome lights?
Interesting questions and interesting thread, I started disecting my new M37 last week to determine which bulbs will work, it looks like the license plate bulbs will work, but they appear to fire sideways so the OP builb may not producce best effect since it fires straight. I hope to finish checking out all the builbs and measurements this weekend so I can order next week. I do think that the dome setup the OP used may not work in the new M as the dome casing is long and narrow, but it appears to use the same bulb the old M did, odd that it is the only bayonet bulbs of all the interior lighting, everything else is wedge. I plan to take my trusty ruler to the car this weekend. I also was hoping to change out the front headlight park/side marker bulbs, but they really suck to get at on the new M, my guess is it might be easier to pull the headlamp assembly which woudl be nuts. I did switch out the fogs alreay for Luminic H8 Ultra White bulbs, basically do that to every car to get the Fogs to be much closer to the HIDs in color, huge improvement. Only downside is this is cosmetic chaneg as the Luminic H8 bulbs do not throw as wide a pattern so it bascially renders the fogs useless other than to colro match the light thrown, but I never use the fogs for other than looks anyway.buggdog wrote:Does any one know if the license plate bulbs mentions by the OP will work on the new M37x?
I hear ya...I only ask because this was an issue in my previous car. As for the TL, if they're using LEDS inside, I'm sure they're wired in a way so that the lifespan isn't affected by the dimmer..kluken wrote:Can't sepak for the M, but I did LEDs on my Acuras that dimmed the domes and I never had any issues, granted I only kept my cars 12-18 months, but in that time no issues. I'll be interested to hear what you find out about the bulbs in the M37. Looking to do the plates at least then maybe the doors and trunk. Thanks for the heads up on the fogs. I might make that upgrade too.kluken wrote:Interesting questions and interesting thread, I started disecting my new M37 last week to determine which bulbs will work, it looks like the license plate bulbs will work, but they appear to fire sideways so the OP builb may not producce best effect since it fires straight. The fogs suck to do, the drivers side about 5 minutes, the passenger side you really want to pull the inside wheel well and shroud under the bumper, I manageed to do it by just loosening the shroud and pulling back the wheel well, but it took almost 30 minutes and I have long thing arms and it sucked. Problem with passenger side is the windshield washer resevior is down there and it gets in the way. But I am OCD about having fogs that look yellowish next to HIDS so I do it because for $26 and some time the look is way better. Next time I might consider the LEDs that someone posted here, but I have gotten great life out of the Luminics so far in each car I use them in. Last car was 19K and 18 months when I traded it and they were still going strong and got uesed 5+ days a week. Used the Lumics H8 35 watt bulbs and very inexpensive.buggdog wrote: I'll be interested to hear what you find out about the bulbs in the M37. kluken wrote:Ok measured the M37 bulbs, the front Dome lights are tight, you maybe have 2 inches by 1.25 inches to get any type of circuit board style LED assembly in there. The problme is the front domes on the 2011 M is not a rectangle, but a curved compartment. The reverse lights in the 2011 M are not front firing so you will need a LED that fires all around or side fires. The doors take standard weges, but the base assembly has some little support pieces and you maybe have .75 inches bulb height (not inclduing base), so the standard 921 LEDs should work. The truck also has a assmeble rather small, similr to door panales, you have maybe .75 deep then maybe a rectangle mounting area that is about .75 inches x 1 inch. I'm looking over my options today and will order some LEDs this week. I am not going to attempt the parking/corner lights in the front too damn hard to get at. Will keep everyone posted on my progress.
Sorry have not ordered the LEDs yet, actually have to order some for my M and the gf's new RDX. I hope to order them this week. I was looking at LEDs like you linked to for the license plate lights since they need a side firing light. I have been going over a few options, I just need to sit my lazy butt in front of the LED web sites and place an order.buggdog wrote:
Any update on your LED upgrades?
I was wondering since the 2011 M license plate bulbs are on their side, would this led work better?

Thanks!
I inventoried the buls a few weeks ago and shodul be ordering some bulbs in the next few days for my M37S, I'll keep you posted.bossnova3 wrote:I bought the ones for the license plate, I went with the ones suggested by buggdog let see how the work I'll let you guys know, but I would like to know if any body knows the complete led conversion bulb size for the 2011 M37S including the reverse lights. Again thanks in advance!!!!!
Hey, thanks bro! I really appreciate it. So I'm assuming that the other lights (2, 3, & 4) are OK? Also, I dont know if this will change anything, but I drive a 2008 M35 Sport (white)infiniti_lineup wrote:Many of your bulbs do not have enough or have too much intensity. 1. Parking light (front) lil bulb: http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/Gaug ... 38587.html
Not bright enough! You need the highest maximum brightness rating for the front parking lights. Here is the bulb that I am currently using - I've received compliments that it matches beautifully with my white M45:

5. Reverse/Back-up light (rear): http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Park ... 82918.html
Again, NOT bright enough! Using a bulb rated by V-LEDs at only 3 won't be safe when reversing during anytime after the sun as set. It will be as bright as the license plate lights (which isn't bright). Again, use the same lights I suggested for the parking lights. I have again used these and think that they look excellent when the car is in reverse - as well as provides enough light for the back up camera to function even better than with stock lights:

6. License plate light (rear): http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Corn ... 78377.html
TOO bright! I had used similar LEDs from V-LEDs and the brightness that comes from these lights end up causing issues with the back up camera. It becomes extremely hard to see what the camera is showing because the light is blinding the lens. I ended up returning those and purchasing a set that wasn't as bright:

If you'd like to me take photos of what they look like - just ask!

Im worried that there might be the "fast blinking" and so forth, especially the side marker turn signal light on the front panels. Thanks in advance!!
Hopefully they work out well. It seems like they will. I am waiting until someone jumps ahead and replaces a few of their lights so I can place a bigger order instead of just the license plates.bossnova3 wrote:I bought the ones for the license plate, I went with the ones suggested by buggdog let see how the work I'll let you guys know, but I would like to know if any body knows the complete led conversion bulb size for the 2011 M37S including the reverse lights.
