most the time led has a small viewing angle of 25 degrees so unless the led is shining down onto the paper it will be hard to read. That and when the blue does hit the paper it will make your paper blue meaning black letters on blue background even harder to read. i would suggest either having a flashlight or leaving your dome light alone incase you say get pulled over for license and registration your going to want to be able to see without pissing off the cops. led's are illegal to have unless stock installed. idk why but thats what the officer's here tell me. usually i will check with cops first to see what lights i can and cant run. but never give them the info to your car when you ask. just say your drive an accord or some thing like that. dont want them watching for you. but im paranoid like that.

I installed them a few weeks ago and liked them so much I installed blue foot well lights in my car and my friend got blue domes in his Navigator.

They are good for show but not good to use as a reading light - kinda more of a ambient glow than a light. This doesn't really matter to me because for my mapping I use my Garmin which has a back light, and I never read. But if I need to look for something like a chap stick that slid under my seat, I'm kinda screwed. And reading a receipt or something makes you read like a old guy, squinting and keeping it 2 inches from your face.

At first they are a little hard to adjust to, but you'll get used to them after a week or so. Now I drive with them on and I'm not bothered by it.

As far as the legality, my cousin was talking to a cop tonight and asked him if they were illegal and he said only lights on the outside are illegal, I really don't buy that and I'm just gonna stick with if it can be seen from a vehicle outside of your car, and is detracting - its illegal. But sometimes, people just feel like breaking the law.

easy solution, keep your front map lights white, and change the rest of the lights to blue. you still get the effect with usable front map lights

but i do agree with everyone else, blue is useless light but looks badass
