I've seen a picture of MA that shows flooded streets that froze. Literally an ice rink. I can't even imagine what those cars are going to look like after the ice melts.

It was a brutal storm. That whole week and the one before we didnt see many temps above 0. Which is why the flooded was so bad, the ground was so frozen it couldn't absorb any of the rising tide which was already high due to full moons etc. The island I am on had extensive flooding, luckily we are on a small hill and just watched as the tide came in.

The video's of that storm were straight insanity. I never would have imagined anything like it.

Well we're in snowpocalypse 2018 right now. Looking out the window I can't tell if it's just a little bit of frozen rain or snow flurries that fell while I was asleep. Ground is soaked though so when all that rain we got freezes it's gonna be bad. We don't get snow in TN. We just get a layer of solid ice on everything.

Hi Becky
:wavey: How you been?
Life has it's ups and downs. My previous 3 was killed and I bought an MS3 and I remembered you own one and that is what brought me back. How are you? How is Greg? How are the kids? Can you drive my MS3 and I drive yours to see what it's like? :D

We got snow this time. Totally legit. Like 2 inches in my backyard. We never get snow so this is a lot to us. I like snow though so this is pretty legit to me.

I'm doing a training course this week for a new software product I'm rolling out at work. The demo environment has us working on a widget called "Infinity" and I keep spelling it "Infiniti."

I should just start typing Q45 instead.

Ugh.

Last year I had an Acura try to change lanes right into me (I had merged into a new lane on the highway to their right and they didn't look before moving). I had to swerve into construction barrels and my non-folding mirror got snapped off. Still haven't found a pearl white LS8 at a wrecking yard with the non-folding mirrors to replace it, so I have a black mirror on that side.

On the cops note, I was in a supermarket parking lot yesterday and almost got backed into by someone while waiting in a line of cars. This happend in view of 3 cops. I LAID on my horn and the dude just kept backing up. Not one cop even looked up; they were busy dealing with some other incident. I rolled down my window and shouted profanity. Nobody paid me any attention. Dude backing out came millimeters from my front fender. Never noticed me. Must have been deaf as a post.

I watched someone fly through my neighborhood and swipe off a parked car's mirror. It was dark and I didn't get a plate number as they also ran the stop sign and kept going.

No, people don't take responsibility for their actions. That concept is not really taught or promoted in public, in business or in court. Some homes still teach it though. Some.

At least those are ignorant accidents. At least y'all's neighbors 4 doors down and across the street didn't break into your garage at night, steal your hunting rifles and AR15, and smash your truck window. It's really fun knowing that your neighbors that you can see from your bedroom window are thieves.

I'm alive! And 2018 hasn't changed much!

People really should stop looking at new years brining new things. You should be doing that daily and striing to make yourself better than who you were yesterday.

I've gotten some sunshine and I'm not so depressed. :)

Also, I made a youtube video!

Kart Racing is a blast, but good kart places that let you actually race hard (don't get mad about bumping, real racing, etc.) and a good group that doesn't just get in the way is HARD to find.

Splunk had an event at Utah Motorsports Complex (formerly Miller Motorsports Park where we had a couple NICOfests) and nearly everyone were car guys, so they split us into two groups: racing folks and non-racing folks. It was fantastic. One of the most fun things I've ever done (including driving on REAL racetracks). Their track is pretty good, but doesn't have any of the altitude changes like the one in KV's video. It does have some fun technical compound-radius turns and things though. I have a few videos but none of me driving (they're all of the amateur group while I was off-track).

They usually split it down the middle into two tracks. The Splunk event got the right track which is awesome. At NICOfest I've done the left track which was kind of meh (but then most of that group sucked at racing so that may have been why).

Oh, also:

Same kart, but he works on the property and we aren't allowed to get out and fix ourselves when we spin, so the guy comes around. It's a decent length track. About a minute to go around, I think? Fifteen to 20 laps in under 20 minutes, IIRC.

I think this was the second time I've ever go karted lol. The track was a lot of fun, but the karts were trash. You step on the brakes and just one side would activate. Still had some fun though. :bigthumb:

I hear there's a really nice track in the bay area in Burlington, I think? I heard of its existence over a decade ago, so the recession might have eaten it. Where did you go?

Very nice. I think that track I was on was modeled after Laguna Seca now that I think about it. I might be wrong, though. I would like to hit a track like that myself, but yeah, it's really hard to find a good place that really lets people let loose. The place in my video said I could really rip it up, but mentioned that any damages incurred will be out of pocket plus $75.

How's everyone doing, so far this month? I should be studying, but I'm slacking a little. Later y'all.

I don't have a lot of experience with karts, but the little I do have was that the wheelbase is so close to square, that once they loose traction at the rear, it's REALLY hard to keep it from spinning.

Yep, and most have rear brakes only with (of course) no ABS so once you exceed your braking traction threshold, it's instant 180. Which is why they're so fun. No forgiveness, but really no risk when things go wrong, either.

With the way the steering is on them, the single gear and limited power, I found they slid predictably. I've only driven a couple types though. I don't recall seeing too many snap spin-outs. As MoD says, the risk of injury or damage is really low, so the fun lies in pushing the threshold!
