Note to self, avoid children. She can't play make believe barbie doll house on her own just yet? Or is she hungry/tired/thirsty/whatever other excuse children have for you to be up because they're up?

I end up in Memphis from time to time, but another co worker has the Long John Silvers account, so I rarely go to Louisville.

Usually her morning routine is to come into the bedroom and get in our bed. She then wants to watch something on TV and lay in bed while Kristen sleeps. Usually that doesn't last for long and she goes to get her juice and breakfast bar. After that, she usually will relax a little but usually still does some stuff. We would rather her be in the bedroom though, because if she is by herself and we're sleeping, that would likely spell trouble. If she gets out of our sight for just a bit and is quiet, she can destroy an entire room.

I probably could pull off Memphis sometime if I had enough notice. Louisville would be excellent if you're ever there though. I'm there fairly often.

Too bad it can't be like the old days where you can send her out to milk the cows while you're sleeping in.

My parents used to just set me loose in the backyard. Now you don't want to do that in fear of creepers coming around your neighborhood trying to snatch kids.

So how you liking the Scooby so far? I'm already trying to prep the wife for letting me drag home a new project when we move, if we make enough profit off of our house. I've been coming Craigslist for a couple of weeks now for something RWD and V8 powered.

Haha, mine would just yell at me to go watch a tape if I tried to disturb weekend sleep time.

The Scooby is a lot of fun. It corners like crazy, never loses composure (unless its snowy/icy, then its FUN), but I can see why a GT model would be a complete blast to own. Interior I like a lot. Seats are decent, and I finally found the "just right" spot for the drivers seat in relation to the clutch travel. Also had my first emergency stop from 65mph yesterday after some a-hole cut me off. Let me say, HOLY s*** this car can stop. I mean, the Miata can too, but its a whole different type of vehicle. Very impressed.

Are you lookin' at another Mustang? Maybe a third gen?

Third gen > Mustang.

Great logic, but thieves are idiots. You cannot use logic against idiots.
An unlucky friend of mine who never locks his doors has lost a window in his Metro (was not locked, and the thief stole the TAPE player) and a top on his Jeep (was not only unlocked, but the top UNZIPS from the outside--thief stole NOTHING on that attempt).

You can't fight stupid. You just have to smack it really hard and scowl at it until it goes away.

Good stuff man. I love me some Subaru's. I think I may finally have sold the wife on a Legacy Outback for her next car, which hopefully means I can put her in a turbo one :yesnod

The Five Hundred stops like hell now since i've upgraded the brakes. Before it felt like you were trying to stop a tank, but now it stops almost immediately. Stopping power and grip is very important to me, so I don't cheap out on brakes and tires anymore.

At first I was thinking about a Mustang, but I don't think I want another one right now. The two models I want are way out of my price range anyways - 93 Cobra and 03-04 Cobra. I am considering F-Bodies, especially a GTA like yours and i'm also hunting around for a Lincoln Mark VIII. I know people have their negatives about Mark VIII's, but i've always loved them and they make quite a bit of HP for very little money. You can pick them up for $3,000 or less with fairly low mileage.

I'm also hunting for a Volvo 240 or 740 Wagon to do a V8 swap in :naughty:

Haha, I've seen that badass V8 Volvo video on Youtube. Its like swinging around a coffin freezer on an axis when they do donuts.

You could probably get a 93-95 Cobra, but why bother when the next gen "new edge" GT can whoop up on it for the same price? I'm a fan of the "new edge" style in dark blue, black, or yellow as a GT. I hate, hate, hate the shifter placement, but like the looks.

Mark 8's are cheap. Two friends of mine got into them as a Mustang alternative. They sport the same engine and thus make them fun to modify, but the chassis will nickel and dime you to death. Both owners had constant electric gremlins, both had to replace the air bag suspension with traditional suspension, and one swapped to a 5 speed, the other to a built automatic. Overall, they spent way more money than their mustang couterparts. They ended up being cars that spent more time under construction than they spent driving.

I'll advocate a thirdgen any day of the week. Note that up until 1988 they're now considered classics and you can get incredibly cheap insurance on them. Note that LT-1 4th gens are very affordable now.

You should still join the NICO Miata crew... Those like V8's. :)

Reminds me of a quote I heard on a tv show last night.

"I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling. So why don't we just ignore each other till we go away?"

The Miata never gets locked, but all too often the guys on Miata boards talk about how some a-hole will cut their top even with the door unlocked. When I park in the airport or downtown with that car, I leave an index card in the drivers window that reads "doors unlocked, everything of value has already been stolen."

It's funny about the Mark 8's, because i've known two people that have had them for 10+ years and never have had a single problem. It's not going to be a daily driver though, so I don't really care. I just think they look cool and they're not something you'd typically expect to be fast, where you expect it from a Mustang. Most people have no idea what a Mark 8 is.

The only thing that always steers me away from GMs is working on them. I HATE adjusting valves and I despise the distributor position. WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU PUT A DISTRIBUTOR ON THE BACK OF THE MOTOR AGAINST THE FIREWALL!?!?!?!?!?

I'd love love love to have a Miata, but as i've said before - I simply cannot fit in one. My legs are way too long and my head touches the roof. Now I would highly consider another RX7 though.

I don't fit well in my Miata either, but its worth it to me. Never driven or ridden in an RX7, except the first generation. Loads has changed there. Either way, if it isn't a daily driver, it could be a pretty sweet cruiser with a cutout on the exhaust.

have you had any luck finding that Subaru Brat? That would be a sweet V8 swap.

Why does the distributor position bother you? I never really cared where it was, so long as I could service it. No issues getting to mine, and I've timed the engine a couple of times now since owning it. I will probably change the plugs and do it again when it gets warm, though there is a small screw that I'm dreading because its nearly stripped.

I've driven quite a few Miatas and loved them, but I just don't think I could stand commuting in one. I had a 2nd Gen RX7 Turbo II and it was a BLAST to drive until the seals crapped out. Then it was game over. If that happens again, it would get a V8 swap for sure. My wife's uncle has an 85 RX7 GSL-SE sitting in his front yard, but I can't get him to let go of it. It just sits there rotting away and i've offered to cut him a check on the spot numerous times, but he keeps saying no.

A Brat? Can you even cram a V8 in one? :lolling:

Because I have to bend over the back of the engine, which is very uncomfortable to work in. It's mainly because I have bad luck with Chevy motors, so I always end up spending way longer doing things than I should. You put me in front of a small block Ford and I can do about anything to it without an issue. When it comes down to it, I just really hate working on anything pre LS1.

There is PLENTY of room for a V8. Folks manage to fit the new 2.5 in there just fine, and its a long, wide engine.

I think my mind is rebelling. High(ish) pitched noises all have this weird resonance, like someone talking into a fan. It's REALLY distracting on top of being frustratingly inexplicable. Just suddenly started happening at work earlier. Though there was something wrong with my phone, but it happens in person, too. Most noticeable with women's voices. Also the "traction control disabled" beep in the LS.
