Haven't hunted in a long time, but when we move up to PA this year I plan to get back in the game. Most of my famdamnly are avid hunters, be it bow, rifle, black powder etc. I want the crossbow to control Liberal, I mean deer, over population :chuckle:

Actually, on a serious note.

Could you school me on a decent shotgun that would be pretty easy to find used?
Is there anything shotgun specific that doesn't usually apply to handguns in regards to signs of abuse or poor upkeep?
I mainly want it for home defense and the occasional shooting range trip with Lindsey. Might shoot clay pigeons since there is a place less than a mile away from my house, too.
I'm thinking of getting a Benelli SuperNova, Mossberg 500, or an Ithaca 37, in that order, but am open to any other pump action guns that you would suggest I look into.
What is your opinion on them? Are these fairly easy to come across at a good price?

Check out the Mossberg 930. Its a semi-auto which cuts down on recoil and is obviously easier to shoot since it requires no manual reload for the next slug/shell.

I found one earlier for $490 new. I believe Walmart even has them.

I'm a big fan of the 500. The Benelli Supernova is a beautiful piece of machinery as well. Seems like you've done your research.

As far as care, a shotgun is way easier to take care of. You can usually get away with just running a cleaning cloth down the barrel with some solvent or oil on it. There's not really a way to abuse a shotgun. Look up demolition ranch and their homemade shells. They anything down the barrel and their gun is fine.

As far as home defense though, I'd go with a Remington 870 Tactical Blackhawk: http://www.remington.com/products/firea ... khawk.aspx

Thing is stupid sweet. And the 870 has been in production forever. They figured no reason to change something that works great. The tactical blackhawk is very customizable too.

Ooooo, the 870 is a VERY sweet lookin' gun! I'm finding a lot of conflicting information on price though. What should it cost?

I'll have to check out that website when I get home tonight. If they load a shotgun the same way they'd load a blunderbuss, I'll be impressed.

The 930 is pretty neat looking, too. I've never fired a semi-auto shotgun before but I've read that they should be properly maintained which worries me on since I'll be buying on the used market.

just reporting that a nala sighting has occurred. i was out in hartford for a bar crawl and totally ran into him at the last stop. he and some other people had the vip section that night. he spotted 2 attractive females at the bar and i told him to sack up and talk to them, which he actually did, but nothing came from it. then i made him bring me back to vip for a free shot. that's all i got.

Just nut up and get a SPAS-12. Neat foldy stock, and semiauto or pump action.

But seriously, the Semiautos aren't fussy, but I'd much rather have a pump. They both have their place, but I feel a pump would be better for home defense, if for no other reason than reliability.

And Tita, I'm jealous. I wish I could make fun of Nala to his face and him not know I'm actually making fun of him.

Thats my thought behind pumps, too. Some of the guys at work say, "they'll get scared when they hear the first 'chuck chuck.'" I called s*** and said the only reason someone should be scared of the first 'chuck chuck' is after first hearing a loud explosion in their general direction.

Mornin' Ray!Got the injectors but i am having a problem with the Z32 maf that i bought a year ago from a guy on KAT.org. The car will barely run with it,runs fine with the stock sensor though.

What r u using for tuning? How are you able to switch between MAFs? Isn't the tune MAF specific?

Sounds like what Brian said- you values may need to be changed in the programing tuner.

Orrrr- it could just be a bad maf. Is it the 'hacked' type that folks use on their turbo 240's?

Using an Enthalpy tuned ECU, it is setup for a Z32 maf but it runs fine with the stock maf also. The car won't even idle with the Z32 maf installed.

If it's tuned for the Z32 MAF it shouldn't run fine with the stock unit. Sounds like you have a bad tune.

It could be as simple as he sent you the wrong ecu. If it's running with the stock MAF it's definitely not right. The air values are totally different with the N62.

Give Enthalpy a call/email and tell him your car runs with the stock MAF and not with the N62 and see what he has to say.

he went up to them very confidently, much to my surprise. i wasn't close enough to hear the exchange, but their facial expressions didn't say "get the fudge away from me creeper before i mace you".

he invited me to a house party this weekend.

It's better to be confident and persistent then a creepy wallflower, right? Maybe there's still time to turn him into a dashing serial killer.

Ooooo, didn't really put much thought that it'd be a college party. Go strip that engine.

I was with the lady's brothers (both younger and in college) and felt really young and out of place. Thinking about it, I used to live downtown near 3 colleges which was fantastic at the age but got more and more annoying the longer I lived there. Hearing some a-hole hipster at 3:30am on a Tuesday blasting the Jackson 5 from a boom box riding his bike around in circles in the intersection gets old reaaaaaal quick.

I now live in the woods and the only thing to hear now is the crickets and wind.
