leaking oil pan

ok so i pulled the flywheel off and my oil pan is leaking in the rear not like horrible leak, but not just a small drip. what can/should i do??? i mean how difficult is it gona be to reseal the pan with the motor in the car? or can i try just re-sealing that spot and then letting it hold over untill winter/next yr

you could prolly get a way with just putting a little sealant on the outside of the pan, make sure to clean it off completely first, iirc the rear seal is a rubber one, its prolly hardened over the years, prolly time for a new one.

CA's are known to have leaky rear main seals. Are you sure it's the oil pan and not the rear main seal?

yep, CA rear main seals suck pretty bad... mine is less than 2 years old, and when I pulled my transmission to put my hks flywheel on, my rear main was already leaking! you'd think oem gaskets would last longer than that, but apparently not

never had a problem with crank seals, the sump has always been a nightmare. the flange bends very easily when you prise it off and you need to straighten it very carefully.

well did it today, was a ***** by myself, ha, but i got it, and yes it was def the oil pan, like the rubber half moom in back was dry rotted to hell

hmm, so would it be better to run non synthetic on the ca18 since the rear main seals are known to leak? or would it not make much of a difference?
