Just picked up my new 07 spec v a few days ago. problem is i'm new to this whole front wheel drive and manual driving thing. i just had a couple quick questions.. one. whats the best way to launch my 07 spec v. i seem to chirp my tires to much.. even at 1700 rpm.. also.. the guy at the dealer was sayin i could take this thing past redline a little bit.. where are you guys shifting at? any help to drive my car faster would be great. thanks a lot in advance!

hey man you don't want to be redlining that thing until you break it in a little bit more, around 1000 mi or so. also, are you dumping the clutch cause that will make you chirp at low rpms in first and second all the time. if its your first manual, take the first couple thousand miles to get used to the car and also break in the engine so you don't cause any long term damage. you'll get the feel for it after a while.

What he said...

Anyhow the sales person sounds fishy. Why did they tell you that? Want you to break something and come back for service?

You might want to read up on weight transfer. For FWD cars it hinders the launch.

For high rpm launches you have to ride the clutch. Definitely don't do any of this nonsense before break-in is over.

I agree with what everyone else has said. If you don't properly break-in the engine, you will run into problems down the road. I babied my car until about 1800 miles or so.
