Hi,
I recently bought a 1965 L320. My truck doesn't have a motor or transmission. I REALLY need to get some ideas about what engines/transmissions (Datsun or otherwise) would work. Being in Maine with this 320 probably puts me at a disadvantage, but I'm in hopes someone can steer me in the right direction.

I am interested in this topic also. Wondering if there is a simple later model engine upgrade.

Help us out guys!!

Not too many options, unless you want to do some cutting.

The most common swap I see is the A14 / A15 out of the B210. Plentiful, cheap, and they'll run forever.

Personally, I'd just look for the original E1 engine and rebuild it. I'll ask around, they're out there still.

Hey AZhitman,
I found an engine & 5spd tranny that the owner said came out of an '82 210 sedan. Gonna take a look but don't know how to id it; you know, A13,14,or 15? I'm hoping its all he says it is. Thanks in advance for any help on this.....Thx

Scored an '80 A14 motor and 5 spd with less than 21,000 real miles!........ now on to the rebuild!

Nicely done!

Trans tunnel will likely need to be cut / expanded. IIRC, the trans on the A-series engines is larger.

Is the 320 trans tunnel any different on the floor shift model(which i own)? If need be, the plasma gun is gonna get some use. I am going to 'dry fit' the unit in before I separate the tranny away; that way I can get an idea of how much of a change the tunnel will need. Gonna move slow on the rebuild - snow season here shortly so no great hurry.
