Okay I like think, but that that compression you wont be able to boost much. So of you are building a turbo car, don't go that high. If building a high compression motor you can go to about 11.1:1. As for tuning, it going to be like any other where you can have it tuned using a daughter board. The big thing your tuning is the spark and fuel tables.

I would think properly build, reputable machine shop, check align bore, bore / hone, balanced rotating assembly, ARP rob bolts, main bolts, and head studs. With a proper set of cams, and tuning you could make 200hp NA with 11.0:1. Some supporting mods would be a nice long tube intake manifold and large throttle body.

Some of the things to check for is the new piston design, are they flycut? Has the piston to valve clearance changed?

I was going to buy Eagle Rods and Supertech pistons Im just doing a N/A for simplicity. I don't have everything bought yet cause Im waiting for it to warm up for the tear down, the engine looks as if its been gone through before but you cant really trust an engine that someone couldnt get to work. Im getting ARP stuff now, but theres no one to balance the rotating assembly, their good enough for bore/honing the block and thats about it. Would there be any horrible vibration with just higher compression pistons, better rods, and cams. Would it run fine on stock tune till I can get it tuned?

No but if you cant get it balanced just stop and buy a short block. It would run like hell on a stock tune and it would be bad for the motor. Find a good speed / machine shop for the build. My guess is labor will be 1300-1800 for machine and assy.

I bought this ka a while back for a 100 bucks cause someone couldnt get it to work. Im guessing its because its a s14 ka they didnt have all the stuff to make it work for their s13, so I pull the pan off and the only surprise was the one of the rods was from another motor cause of the miss matched numbers stamped to id what cylinder it was from. It all rotates fine and everything, its even super clean which is odd I was expecting it to be really dark brown. Im just going on my dads advice to go through it and I just wanna make it a lil more stouter. I read that the s14 kade was like 9.5:1 and I just wanted to raise the compression ratio a bit if I didnt have to tune it. I blew the gasket in my s13 so I just wanna get it running really but I just wanna do it right.

if your going to change the pistons you need to change the rods as well dont make the mistake of half assing it and with you having different rods already in the motor i honestly dont know why your even considering not doing this really if your on a budget you can get a set of wiseco pistons and eagle rods off ebay you can get them at 9:1 or 10.5:1 and then later on you could do anything you want to the motor turbo supercharger nos what ever ive never herd any complaints with this lower end setup unless it was by the persons own stupid mistakes bad tuning to much boost whatever

well i was just wanting to get new rods and pistons to begin with, I just wanted to know it bumping the compression up would hurt anything. If I have to get it tuned on just different piston alone?

Anyone have any problems with Clevite bearings, my honda friend is bashing me on that.
