yo guys, i am new to this board. Hopefully i will have a good time with you guys! Anyway, i have a 97 240sx SE, and i would like to get the Turbo project done to my car, basically what i have in mind is:

AEBS engine and head workCrower Stroker kit to 2.6 (8.5 / 8.0 JE piston is my choice)Garrett GT3540 turbo (700hp)rev-hard custom turbo manifold

etc etc etc.......

this is basically what i have in mind, please give me some suggestion!!!

I always thought that GTR 2.8litre RB rev higher than the RB26, then the KA26 should able to rev higher then the KA24....... ^-^

SR got higher RPM, KA got higher torque, if they can combine togther, that will be a prefect enigne for our 240! (my dream)

thanks !

no. anytime you increase the stroke of a motor, you lose "safe" rpm.

the 2.8l rb's have a lower rev limit. what makes them rev higher is the work on the valvetrain and balancing.

if you applied the same work to both the rb26 and 2.8l save for the increase in stroke, the 2.6 will rev higher.

If you want more cubes, resleeve the block and bore the crap out of it. Balance the rotating assembly out for more revs, get a better valve train...etc.

I wouldn't stroke that pig anymore if I were you.

thats a big bore job... .2 liters on a ka block?defintely gonna need some sleeves.

the KA's drivetrain isn't supposed to be really stable at high RPM's... shim on bucket or something, I don't know. that information is out there if you search. With the right amount of money, anything is possible.. if you want revs though, the ka24E has a lot more high RPM support, they were used in truck racing amoung other series and you can outfit them with a 8 or 9 k redline if you want to.

I dunno, KA has the same drivetrain as SR/CA and they both rev fairly high.

But if your looking at more displacement from a KA definitely go bore and leave the stroke alone.

Resleeve? Since when is the KA sleeved? It's cast iron, no sleeving involved.

Bore the KA out to a 2.6L? Sure, if you want to break the water jacket. I believe DeviousKA has his block bored to just over 2500 cc's, and he says thats cutting it really close. Just take a look at ADAMHU's block (sorry, had to steal if for a sec Adam).

If you want more revs, I think you should be more concerned with balancing the crank and headwork, rather then fooling around with the bore.

yeah the block in my car right now is at 91.1mm. That is the super max i can see possible. the cylinder wall thickness is one thing, but the two oil passages that travel down between the cylinders in a v pattern (you can see in the picture above) are the closest to the cylinder wall and it is thinnist there. I have no hotspots though, so all is good

the ka already has a monstrosity of a stroke, think destroke

even if you were to "sleeve" the ka block, you would still be limited by the bore spacing and design of the passages

I know the friggin KA isn't sleeved, its a typo. I know you can only over bore as much as the oil/water jackets allow for. I never said you could get all the way to 2.6, I said if you want more cubes then "sleeve it" and bore it.

I wasn't trying to be deragatory or anything, just correcting your typo, as you said "re-sleeve". "Re" giving the sense that it was sleeved in the first place.

And the second part of my post wasn't directed towards you, just in general. I'm not trying to be an ***. :D

Actually the CA has a head design closer to the KA, and the SR is totally different. The SR has the cam lobes riding on rocker arms, the KA and CA dont have rocker arms, they are direct cam on bucket. The stroke of the KA is what kills its redline.

ehh...that would be valvetrain stuff. the original quote was drivetrain.

Either way you slice it, if you want 700hp your gonna need huge boost. Carving the block to the limits is a great way to gain cubic inches, as long as you can afford to replace it when it blows up. I'd stick with a simple.030 over bore and tons of boost.

IMO of course, I'd like to see how far the block can actually go. But I won't be doing it.
