So My 240 sits Dead Right Now(Crank Pulley Broke) Long Story.... so I Got Myself A Used Motor And Trans Complete For $100... But Its Dirty And In Need Of A Good Cleaning. While Im Disassembling And Cleaning What All Can I Permanently Remove? I Know EGR For Sure But What Else Like useless Coolant Lines Or Vaccum Lines. I Want to Clean This Motor Up And Remove Useless Crap Basicly To Some Pep-Back In This Cars Step. DcSport Headers Are Lined Up, What Is The Best Pipe Type And Size For Exhaust From The Header Back(Stainless, Aluminum). Also A Cam Not Sure Which Is Best, PDM Or Hybrid KA? Underdrive Pulleys And Electric Fans Are Also Being Lined Up.

So Any Other Suggestions Are Apprechiated, But Just Giving Me A Good Over View Would Be Awesome. I Did My Homework Pleanty Bewing This I"s My Thrid 240, But This Is My First Motor Swap And Couldnt Come Up Wit hA Good Search To Cover What All Im Looking For.

Typing Like This Makes It Hard To Read.Anyways, some people remove the emissions stuff when they are rebuilding an engine, if you search you can probably find it.

A/c Delete, POWER STEERING? Lightened flywheel, but I wouldn't recommend Pulleys really.

For starters get a new clutch and lightweight flywheel. You will feel a difference right away. Do the emmissions crap and then pull all excess weight out of the car. As far as exhaust goes i'm running a pacesetter header into a 2 1/2" exhaust all the way back into a 5" HKS maxspeed muffler With a 2 1/2" high flow cat right after the header. You will see a great performance leap with these light mods. Then you can just boost it and but the log style turbo manifold and run a t3/to4 hybrid turbo with forged internals. On a setup like that you can run up to 15-20lbs of boost safely.

i have a question about the emissions stuff, on my ka24e egr valve i have a exhaust gas temperature sensor and some people i know don't have that sensor on there car, why is that and is there a way i can remove mine without having a problem

If you remove egr, you have to block the holes. Cali vehicles have the sensor for emissions and it will throw a code. There is a way to trick the computer into thinking the sensor is still in place with the use of a resistor but I am not to clear on how to install it. If you look further down on some threads you'll see my attempt to install it yet i still have the 'check engine' light on.

Well wouldn't you, in the end, run your engine at a higher temp do to the excess fumes being un able to recirculate throughout the engine??? Thus causing over a prolonged period of time engine failure???

dude i'm in the same bost as you are. I've got an 89' 240sx coupe and i freekin had to cut the EGR valve tube to remove tht manifold to get to the head...loooonnnngggg story. But yeah I think that the reason why is because the cali cars either have it custom made and/or due to calli's emition spec's they might not need it. But don't quote me on that one.

All Cali. cars have them. Some will have them on the EGR. Others will have them on the Intake Mani (Low CR motor)
