Car: Making my car go faster

Post

I have just started to tear into my car. If you did not know i have an 89' fastback with a supposed cracked head? I just pulled the head and the intake manifold. The problem I am having is the intake manifold will not come off of the head::mad: . I was wondering if any of you have ever pulled the head off and had the same problem? What can I do to pry the intake manifold off of the head. I am thinking I have done everything to get it off...but obviously I have not because it is still stuck on there!Your response is greatly appreciated! thank you

There are a total of 6 bolts holding the intake to the head. Make sure you have all 6 out. Once this is done, get a rubber mallet and gently tap it off (by gently i mean smack it once or twice real good, but be careful not to damage the alluminum intake manifold).

You can also get a flat head screwdriver a gently tap between the two until it pops and then you know you got it. But don't try to pry with the screwdriver you might damage things. just hold it straight hit until you feel it going in.

there is also a bracket underneath the intake manifold that bolts onto the block, right above where the engine mount bolts to the block. that should be the only thing left holding it on, provided you completely unbolted the manifold from the head. it may be difficult to remove this bracket because of all the cluster on the intake side. be patient, and you'll free the manifold
