ok im a little ignorant on putting engines together so this is gonna be a big learning experience so plz be nice Issue:I purchased a 90 240sx fastback, the head was suspected to be shot, it than sat for 3 yrs, i purchased a new head and was about to put it on and i noticed the previous owner had basically removed the old head for the most part already.

Well the problem i have is that the block has all kinds of trash and other stuff that shouldnt be there in it on top of the pistons like a little rust and like twigs woodland stuff from being exposed to just out side crap. can i still use it can i clean it out and it be ok, if i do clean it do i have to take the block out?(i really dont want to do that if i can help it) or am i screwed and need a new block also. help anyone can give me or advice id appreciate it thanks in advance. ill try to get pictures today in a few hours to show what im talking about

The engine itself doesn't sound to be in good condition. It would be a shame to put on a new head and then the bottom end is garbage. Get an entire engine, they're cheap. Seems like the perfect time to upgrade to a DE or even SR20DET.

well i hate to hear motors goin to waste but i second that motor swap idea. fyi many community college's offer motor classes and i highly recommend them. what u need for u motor sounds like a hoaning (resurface the cylinder walls and possibly new pistons. if u decide to get rid of that head i might be intrested if i dont do a swap myself!! k good luck. if u have anymore questions email me!!
