no its probably not your injectors. It is most likely your hydraulic lifters, some are damaged and need to be replaced. Check to make sure your oil is free of any kind of debris which could have led to your lifter damage. You dont want to ruin your new oil pump.

agreed. I have every noise there is coming from my hood, except the timing chain i think, injectors, belts (about to be replaced) lifters.

when do you hear the noise? is it a rattling type noise that happens for like 2-3 seconds when you start it up cold?? i was told at the local nissan dealership, and several other sources that, that is lifters and NOT the timing chain.

if it does it right when you start it up when cold for a few seconds it is your timing chain, or tensioner rather. Even with a new timing kit this can happen (my coupe does it). Only fix is to use a better/stronger tensioner, it is not the oil pump pressure but the internal spring that needs to be better. The chain rattles against the timing cover until oil pressure is built up, alowing the tensioner to give proper "tension".

you probably got an aftermarket timing kit, a lot of them are low quality as far and tolerance and such. find a good oem one or replace your spring with one with stiffer rate.

btw. it could still be your lifters, check your oil pressure at start up and shut down.

I've got the same clicking or chattering problem, but my engine burns oil,and smokes like a train. yet the compression in each cylinder is 130, 140, 140, and 140... what's the deal?? is it all hydraulic lifters? or would I have leaky valves? shot rings? please help... thanks

mmmk, I went to O'Reillys and autozone, and much to my dismay, they said they don't carry hydraulic lifters for the KA24E, and that they can't order them!!!! what the crap?! anyway, I don't want stock lifters anyway, I want some with rollers on them. Does anyone know where I can get some specifically for the 89 240sx KA24E? please help, thanks:confused:

you cant get roller rockers for the ka you would have to get them custom made. Search around and find out how to check the lifters, then go to a parts yard and find as many as you need. The lowest price ive heard of is $11 per lifter from somewhere online. You can get them at the nissan dealer for under 20 piece.

Rudeboy- check your oil pressure with a gauge, your oil light may be faulty.

if you have a local parts store, they should be able to order them for you.

You guys are going about this wrong. The lifter and rocker arm are one unit. One or more won't fill with oil so you get the clicking noise. They run about $36 from my local dealership, I just called yesturday. Local parts houses can not order them cause no one makes them. Someone should start a group buy, this sounds like a VERY common problem
