ka24e-ka24de swap problems

Hey guys, i have a 89 240sx hatch auto with a messed up ka24e that i snapped a timing tensioner on. It was pretty cool hearing that thing sound like it was gonna blow lol ... I bought a '96 motor set with and auto transmission. it was a really good buy, bought if $175 and it had like 150,xxx on it. It came with spare auto transmission and all the accs. Anyway, i decided to rebuild it, being this is my first rebuild it took a long while. I started collecting parts to do this swap. As i WAS NOT thinking i bought an s14 harness my first time searching. Ya this was not smart. Pretty much $100 down the drain . So after searching about this swap again, i found out that i need the s13 harness duh!. so i searched for several weeks for one and just got it last week. this harness is from a '92 i believe. Today i hooked the harness up to the engine well it was on the engine stand and ran it to several problems.

1. My Dizzy has no spot for the coil wire to plug in, i believe after i searched that i have to have an s13 dizzy and coil????????? I'm not sure.

2. My harness doesn't have a plug for the dizzy in picture 2. The dizzy has a 6 prong male plug needed and i dont have it. i have it on my s14 harness, but i dont think i can just splice it in so im clueless.



I think if we solve problem 1, 2 will be in the process.I think i just need to buy a 91-94 dizzy? maybe?

3. Unknown Plug... It is the plug above the tb with another right next to it. not sure what it does or what plugs into it. I think it works some of the emissions????

4. TPS, this is a big problem. My TPS has two plugs that are identical (one is offset a little) and i can not find anything on my wiring harness that plugs into to the tps. my question is, what do these plugs look like and why don't i have them?

5. Is this plug for the TPS?

6. What is this plug for?

Other than those problems, it seems to be going ok, just a slow process. im waiting on ps lines and some other stuff. if you guys know anything at all just say. any info is helpful.

u need S13 DOHC distributer

u need S13 AT Throttle body

and u need S13 AT Engine harness

yes the throttles bodies are different, yes the engine harnesses are different

Whats the difference with the harness. i just fabed up a tb with an altima and some of the sohc and dohc tb's parts. so were good on that i will take a pic tonight. i may have a dizzy lined up so hopfully i can get that.

difference between AT harness and MT on the DOHC s13 is that the TPS on the TB...the AT has 2 plugs...the MT has one plug

and the S14 TPS is totally different with the dual plugs than the TPS on the S13 with dual plugs

Hey man thanks for the info, but i rigged up a altima tb to work. i made it out of 240/altima parts. if it works, im a genius lol jk but here is the pic.



Also is this what a s13 dizzy connector looks like???

well if it works it works but if u need one that works for sure i have one FS since im getting out of the KA life and joining the small CA crew

and i dunno i gotta go and lookat the car...ill tell u later... right now its in LB and im in L.a.

BTW ur number 3 question...that big phat plug doesnt connect to anything on ur s13 harness... no worries..itll still run wihtout it

the question has pretty much been answered but i'll add to it :P...the s14 dizzy has an internal coil thats y u don't have a plug for it....i might be asking questions pretty soon about kae to kade swap pretty too...i'm looking for a s13 shell don't matter wat year coz i got my baby stolen ....got it back but was in an accident and i only had liability...*sigh

hope to hear about it up and running pretty soon..

yes the S14 dizzy has internal coil...u need the s13 DOHC dizzy and the EXTERNAL ign coil and starter module for it...

starter module??? what is that do you have a pic of it anybody??? anyway i ordered one all ready, but im also waiting for my ecu...when i rebuilt this motor, i broke one of the oil jet assembles and f***ed up crap. so i had to order one from Nissan. anyway i told them which one i needed and said he ordered it. anyway i went to pic it up and i was the opposite that i needed so he ordered it again and yet it was the wrong one. the reason is is because there are two different part numbers and he ordered both of the numbers but they were the same product. so what i guess happened is one of the products got mixed up and so ya. i ordered the first time and paid for overnight so i could get this motor done last week on Monday. and i still don't have on wed the NEXT WEEK its total BS... i will get it tomorrow if UPS is fast at traveling 40miles. lol anyway thats my story about retarded Nissan in my state... but yes i have that stuff ordered and should be here soon. i will take some pics of the swap this weekend or soon...

OK u knoe ur ign coil right...?

on top of that is a lil square looking thing... on the same bracket....that is ur starter module...if thats no go...then no sparky

and if u dont have that

u need it...

if i can find mine ill sell it to yah cheap

I've got the opportunity to get the dual cam motor but the guy says it has a rod thrown... I figured I'd ask in this forum since you guys seem to know wtf ur doing. I have the ka24e in my s13 right now. Are the blocks interchangeable? Or would i have to go buy a new block for the ka24de? Also what is a list of things that are absolutely needed for the swap. I've been searching but i can't find what i'm looking for.

yes the SOHC is interchangable with the DOHC block...but its gonna be some work...

gotta take of the head...timing chain.... all that poopie...its possible...and if u need to pay someone like a shop ur looking round...i say...5-6....cheapest...

when a DOHC KA runs for around 2-300 with decent mileage...

to OP : yeah i gotta find it in my hatch somewhere...gimme lemme look for it...whats ur email?

to be honest i dont know...u can go or call a nissan dealer ship and find out...if the part # match then there u go...ima look in my car tonite...

I would be doing all of the work myself f2ck paying a shop to do what I am able to do myself. I think I have all the parts except for an engine wiring harness for the dual cam motor.

Bro did you find that coil yet. an altima one wont work cuz it is wrong part number. o well. try to find that man. you seem to know what you are talking about. i got my dizzy today too.

why if u can

A. get a pipe bender and bend ur SOHC pipe to one side

or

B. get DOHC P/S lines that match up perfectly to ur SOHC rack

I think i might buy that ps kit or parts for the kit. but i just need to see if those fittings will work

the harness is complete im asking 110 + shipping because it already has the SOHC gauge cluster pigtail soldered on there with the DOHC pigtail on there still aswell on the side the numper 2 injector clip is broken but still click in perfectly

the ecu is AT and im looking 45 + shipping for it too

dont knoe if u know...but on the manual swap...doesnt matter if ecu is MT or AT
