At 75k miles the rocker arms are the ONLY thing you should replace. And only do that if you removed the cam. Unless you're raising the redline, stock springs and retainers and cam should be fine.

yeah the head was broken down for porting. Ok so replace the rockers for sure now. You think the springs are fine huh ? Why only if i removed the cam ? do you think the cam is still useable too ? what about lifters should i replace them ?

As long as they were carefully removed the springs and retainers will be fine. The cam you definitely don't have to worry about. I tore down an E head that had 220k on it and the cam was within spec.

As for the lifters, they should be replaced, especially if you're planning a cam upgrade. They're hydraulic and usually get messed up when they're removed if they're not submerged in clean oil pretty soon after.

***** is, the rockers and lifters are one piece. In other words, when you replace them, it ain't cheap.

Why replace them when they can be bled at about 2000rpm for 20 minutes? You should only replace them if after they've been bled and you press down on the lifter end and it moves more than 1mm; or the cam follower pad is severly worn/pitted.

I was going on the assumption he was upgrading the cam.

Usually the cam followers can be resurfaced, it just saves forking out the unneccessary amount on new OEM rockers/lifters.
