im currently building my ka24e in my 1990 s13 and i have came across a few problems.
the parts im currently buying are:
-nismo camshaft
-port and polished valves/valve springs
-megan racing motor mounts
-cp pistons (c/r of 8:0:1)
-eagle H beam rods

NOW i cant find a performance crankshaft anywhere or a cheap set of aftermarket pulleys(some websites want $130 just for the crank pulley!) :wtf2: . so i was wondering if anyone had any good places/sites to get a nice crankshaft or some pulleys. if so your help would be greatly appreciated and btw im boostin this car as soon as the motors assembled.

ALSO

IS 8:0:1 A GOOD C/R TO START WITH FOR A TURBO PUSHING AROUND 15 LBS???????? :gotme

Why don't you want to use your stock crankshaft?

You aren't going to break the stock crank. If its in good shape it'll do 700hp.

The only problem with the stock crank is that its not fully counter weighted. Take it to a machine shop. 8-1 compression is very low for only 15 lbs. Also pulleys are over rated. Yo wont feall any difference. There is a Guy on here boosting 25psi and over 500hp on stock internals and reused head bolts.

Brian Crower has a stock stroke fully counter weighed crankshaft for the KA, may not be on their site, but I was looking for this as well. I called them back in Nov. they told me they'd have them ready by mid December, 2010.

With the Brian Crower crank, you wont need the gimmicky pulley from ati or w/e.

ok umm im waiting on the weather in order to do complete teardown. the motor currently has a bad rod knock with 149k on it. i decided if im gonna take it apart and rebuild it i mine as well build it. anyone know off hand how much it would be to get the crank machined??? and alright i guess i could do without the pulleys haha

and idk really why i dont wanna use the stock cam. i just want to have everything nice and neat and new i guess.

I think Brian Crower quoted me $1600 for a brand new crankshaft, stock stroke fully CW.

CP is great, I use JE myself. There's no real big difference, besides the CRs they offer, depending on what you wanna do with the car.

Kelford makes a great set of cams (They have 260, 272, 278 duration, or even complete custom ones if you run serious boost and rpm). I mean depending on what you really want to do with the car, the stock cams will do just fine, or upgraded cams will be better, same goes for the crankshaft.

Im not a. Fan of kits mainly because you can piece one together to your liking. And usually cheaper. Not to mention a lot of the kits use cheap accessories.

You typically pick a turbo you'd like to run and get everything else necessary for it, typically the intercooler piping will be one of the custom things needed. "Kits" imo are a dying thing really for this anyway.

It's almost like building a custom computer, you get all the parts you want and put it together yourself.

You can do top mount or bottom mount turbo, with bottom mount, you'd have to remove AC. There are plenty of exhaust manifolds out there, I personally use Xcessive Manufacturing, which is a top mount manifold, and also their intake manifold. The downpipe will probably have to be custom, I'm probably wrong on this, not sure if there's someone with made downpipes around.

You can pick your wastegate and bov, I like Tial.

Then your boost controller, I personally control my boost through the AEM.

I mean I could go on for a long time, It's just probably easier to source it out like this, I mean unless you find a kit that comes with everything you really want.
