Haha I would make a gasket myself, but I'd rather not make my own gasket again. Here's the original write-up copy and pasted from the former thread. And yes, the sticker was awesomely huge.

"How To Make a Gasket - Lowe's Edition"

Step 1: Determine the "problem gasket." In my case, it was the turbo to manifold gasket.

Image

Step 2: Cut the gasket. Remember kids, if this gasket won't see very high temperatures, you can use a normal paper gasket or liquid gasket. My Lowe's gasket is going in a place that sees a lot of heat, so I opted for a metal gasket. I got ducting metal, it was close to 26 gauge metal but a bit thinner.

Image

Step 3: Drill the holes for your studs. I was able to trace my holes onto the gasket, but if you can't you can always guess!

Image

Step 4: Cut out the center part, then admire your handiwork. Looks just like an OEM gasket!

Image

Step 5: Make sure it fits. You might need to widen the holes, but if you traced well then they might just fit.

Image

Step 6: Tighten everything down. You might need a friend to watch over you while you do this, it's quite strenuous and you could hurt yourself.

Image

Step 7: Now step back and look at how well everything sealed. You'll be boosting yet!

Image

Step 8: Place turbo and manifold back into their proper place in your engine bay.

And there you have it! A home-made gasket that will let you boost!

haha thats great. except you should have used a sheet of copper. then in the corners of the exhaust opening use a big drill bit to radius the holes, then you can use some sheet metal sheers to cut between the drilled holes to make nice clean lines. other than that it looks factory! lol

Haha this was a last ditch effort, we were meeting up with Will Rogge and Josh Herron to film some drifting later that night so I needed something that worked asap, this was as best as I could come up with. Next time I'll grab some copper though, thanks for the advice!

Nice drifting Chris!
I love that huge puff of smoke you made as you initiated.

Homemade gaskets ftw!
I guess I need to drop by a place with some scrap copper, I want some copper gaskets!

Hmm.
Then I guess I'll soak my gaskets in a copper gasket maker spray I have laying around, and hope that helps. :gapteeth:

Yeah, scrappers usually love it when you bring them copper. I went ahead and ordered the SCE one, hopefully it gets here before the weekend is over!

a lot of sheet metal fab places carry copper for random things. also roofing companies sometimes have it for making copper roof vents and such. copper ftw lol

also if you were to clamp the copper/sheet metal to the flange and use a hammer and lightly tap around the edges you might be able to cut through it. thats what i do with paper gaskets.

Nope, just wondering why all the KA-T guys were having manifold issues. Cheaper mani's are the issue. If I could do it again, V-8 hybrid all the way. I love the little 2.0 turbo, but in hindsight I think a V-8 would be most fun.

LS1,2,3,6,7,9 motors? McLaren F1? Bugatti Veyron? Top Fuel Dragsters: "The block is machined from a piece of forged aluminium...The cylinder heads are machined from aluminum billets."? Formula One: "The crankcase and cylinder block must be made of cast or wrought aluminium alloys...The complete rules are available from the FIA Formula One world championship regulations."
As far as I can remember off of the top of my head, NASCAR still uses iron blocks. There are pros and cons to both iron and alum blocks. With that said, many good examples of both exist and even if the block is aluminum, the crank, cam/s, and sleeves are usually iron or steel.

Dudes that sell hardware online.
I bought some studs and nuts that Didderson recommended:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#93795a230/=99iwns

That should keep my stuff from vibrating loose and creating constant exhaust leaks.
Woot!

It's the price we pay for having project cars. That's what makes it fun though (I guess lol)

Lol I know a whole bunch of high performance engines have aluminum blocks, I was just adding fire to the sr debate audtatious was trying to create haha.

I'm going to fastenal tomorrow morning to pick up some studs and nuts, gasket should get here soon, I should be back to driving in no time!
